Discussion: Frustration Grows 18 Months Into Probes Of Fatal Police Shooting

So they’re having a hard time figuring out how to justify letting the officers off scot-free, right? Circumstances must be such that making up exculpatory lies that don’t directly conflict with existing evidence is very difficult. Or maybe they’re just trying and failing repeatedly to get witnesses to change their testimony. They know the country is going to hell, because being a racist is getting harder and harder.

jeff landry is a republican bootlicking obstructionist who is already running for governor. the only thing he’s looking into is how to shield himself from a civil suit.

18 months is more than enough time to investigate this incident and decide if the state is going to charge the officers. Since the feds turned over a thorough review of Sterling’s killing, the state should have to drag it’s feet.

It took 400 days for dash cam recordings of LaQuan McDonald to be released to the public. As a result of the City of Chicago’s request to withhold that evidence, the Corporate Council was fired, Cook County’s State’s Ag was voted out of office (she arrogantly said she wouldn’t resign and the citizens of Cook County could decide whether she stayed in office- well, they decided), the City settled quickly (another $5+ million settlement it can’t afford), the police chief was fired (again), several officers at the shooting were fired for filing false reports and three of them were indicted for covering up for Jason Van Dyke, who has been charged with Murder.

McDonald was killed in 2014. His killer will stand trial in 2018. This should not be the case, but we know that police officers are given the benefit of the doubt, even when there are witnesses, video and evidence pointing to their guilt.

My heart goes out to the Sterling Family. I hope they get the resolution they deserve.
