Discussion: Freedom Caucus Chair: We Don't Want 'This Binary Choice' About Health Bill

I would’ve thought binary is a word outside his vocabulary.

Besides that, he’s just looking for cover for when the bill passes the House.

The crazification factor bottom line for Republican support seems to be what 25-26% of the population? That might not sound like much at first glance, but that is 1 out of 4 people nation wide and they aren’t evenly distributed so in many red districts it is likely worse. I don’t know about anyone else, but I find the idea that every fourth person I encounter, likely worse in my case given where I live, is a god-damn lunatic who thinks Trump’s doing a bang up job, pretty damn concerning and not a danger to be dismissed lightly or out of hand.

Edit: And that isn’t even getting into how given the way our government is structure niceties like having the majority support nation wide doesn’t necessarily translate into political power as illustrated by the Republicans control of all three elected parts of the federal government despite getting fewer votes due to the nature of the Electoral College and Senate and gerrymandering in the House.

You know this arguing abou the “process” is great cheerleading and brinksmanship but what people need to understand is that these guys dont want ANY continuation of the ACA entitlement NONE…while they seem fine with the insurance/top 1% tax break and depleting the medicare fund…

I don’t feel I’m being negative at all. I’m just saying what I’ve observed over the past 30 some years of political awareness. The people who voted for Trump think he’s doing great. The people who voted for the members of the Freedom Caucus think they’re doing great.

Will the GOP hold on to both chambers in 2018? Maybe, maybe not. Is the GOP in it’s death throes? Not by a long shot.

I don’t like those kinds of terms because I understand it’s true statistically but I have yet to meet one of those people so out of every 4 people I run into this does not hold up.

Right, because as I said they aren’t evenly distributed. So for every one you aren’t meeting in your blue dot in a red-state that is another one I’m meeting in my red district.

Has the GOP done anything to gain votes? Do you honestly believe Trump will get through his Presidency without losing votes?

And then an equal number of trump opposers were given their chance to voice their opinion of the so called presidents first six weeks in office right? Right?!?!?

Unless I misunderstood, your original position was that we were seeing the end of the Republican party.
Edit: (from your original post) “We are witnessing the destruction of the Republican party.”

I don’t agree. Will Trump lose votes? Possibly, or maybe even definitely.

“Losing votes” != “Death of the GOP”

bluefalcon’s original assertion: “We are witnessing the destruction of the Republican party.”

I don’t agree. Whether or not there are Republicans who oppose Trump, there are not enough of them to cause the destruction of the party.

Actually I said it was “starting to feel like” that and was very careful to say upfront in my post that what I was saying I was doing so cautiously. All you have to do is read it calmly like an adult to see that.

Life as an internet bully must be fun. I prefer real life.

Again, read the beginning of my first post.

Or keep pretending. Who cares.

“And to say that we can’t amend it, change it and make it right? That’s just not how the legislative process works,” Jim Jordan (R-OH) told CNN.

Don’t worry, Sean Spicer says that everyone will be able to amend it. And he’s always right about everything.

The GOP has been on its last legs since Iran-Contra, and that was forty years ago. The GOP is on its last legs the way the Iraqi insurrection against the US occupation was in its “last throes” (if you will) in 2005. When someone shoots the GOP with a silver bullet and drives a stake through its heart, I’ll believe it’s on its last legs. Till then, the beatings will continue until morale improves.

I understand that you weren’t promising anything and I never suggested that you were. But you did make an assertion, and I disagreed with it, and offered some observations to support my point.

I have no idea how this makes me an internet bully. I thought we were having a discussion. Obviously, I was wrong. I’m sorry that I upset you. I won’t engage with you anymore.

Dontcha love how the GOP is ramming thru their Chumpcare bill and blaming the Dems for their own actions?

Here’s the definition of “assertion”: a positive statement or declaration, often without support or reason.

My statements were supported.

I couldn’t care less whether or not you “engage” with me, and when you upset me you’ll know it. Disagree with me all you want. I don’t care.

In fact, it’s a highly consequential lie. A great deal of the sectarian violence that occurred in Iraq after our invasion was due to Saddam having spent years telling Sunnis they were the majority. When they lost elections, they assumed fraud and American perfidy.

Telling a minority it is the majority is dangerously and persistently toxic.

I see this also. I get very sad. How does one help such a closed soul? We have to co exist somehow…
