Discussion: Franken Won't Say If Groping Allegations Are Grounds For Resignation

Did any of these so-called allegations happen when he was an elected official? NO!

But neither did the allegations against Trump or Roy Moore.

Allegations are not enough in this case. After all some are years and years old and could easily have been a misinterpretation by a person made giddy by getting to appear with Franken in a photo. Roy Moore’s accusers are also alleging his actions, but the delict in his case is much more serious than what is being said about Franken, and there were movements to circumvent his preying on teenage girls at the time–mall closure to him, the police ensuring he didn’t get to be near the teenagers at ballgames, etc.

Where the hell are all the accusations against Republicans?

Fair point on Trump, but RoyBoy was District Attorney at the time.

Al, please. Say you’ll resign only if Trump does. After all, he admitted it too.

I feel like Clarence Thomas should be on the hostage list also.

No, because what Franken is accused of (BS imo) is nowhere even near what drump has admitted to on camera.

I’m right on the edge of being totally out of line with this, but the way Franken talks about this is starting to sound to me a lot like the way I’ve heard alcoholics couch answers in depositions because they can never be completely about what they did and when they did it.

It sounds like to me he is trying to respond to these allegations with out calling the women liars, he wants people to treat all allegations (even ones that look fishy as all hell) with respect. This isn’t like we are talking about drunk driving, this is, is it possible that your hand move a couple inches lower on photo number 1000 that someone might of taken offensive. The main point is he is denying that he ever intentionally groped someone, and some of the media on the (left) should be ashamed of its coverage of him.

I literally was just typing out this response - only you wrote it better

Agree 100% with your response.

“What behavior demands resignation?”

Enacting tax cuts for the rich that the middle-class, poor, disabled, sick, children and elderly have to pay for.

Neglecting to act as a check and balance on the abuses of the executive branch in deliberately failing to “faithfully” enforce the law by blatantly and deliberately attempting to undermine it and disassemble entire agencies and long-standing regulatory schema.

Failing to investigate obvious, repeated and extensive violations of the Emoluments Clause.

Failing to investigate obvious, repeated and extensive violations of the Hatch Act.

Abusing congressional control over various committees in order to fabricate counter-investigations that are intended to distract from and interfere with ongoing special counsel investigations.

List is fucking LOOOOOOONG…shall I continue?

The one at the fair in 2010, from the second accuser did, the latest two when he was running for office.

Yep, nice catch, you are correct about the 2010 one. Guess my frustration over the whole thing blanked out my memory.

What were we talking about?

Trying to get that feeling again?

Because no one has substantiated if groping occurred, it’s a moot question. Let’s allow the ethics investigation to move forward. Tweed and the other alleged woman should be put under oath and questioned. This is something neither one of them want which is why Tweeden accept the apology so quickly. She doesn’t want to be put under oath and have others who were on the tour questioned:

Jesus, he might have touched a couple of women’s butts several years ago, so he should be fired for it? These weren’t even coworkers so it’s not really an abuse of power if it did happen. If that’s grounds for resigning from Congress then I would expect every male (and probably a few females) to resign along with Franken in the next few weeks.

he needs to resign. We can’t exactly hold the moral high ground if we are going to grant passage to someone who does this. I liked Franken, and am saddened to hear this. But, we have to be better than the pieces of shit on the right. We just have to.

He has to step down.

Careful you get hammered by folks that believe otherwise and that you’re equating Franken with Trump, Moore and probably soon Hitler and the devil, with talk like this!
