Senator Franken’s question, as I recall, was a general question about Russian contacts. He didn’t ask Sessions about any of his personal contacts with Russians.
Sessions took it there all on his own.

john oliver pointed this out – sessions wasn’t asked whether HE had had any contact with the russians. sessions volunteered that information (which was false) sua sponte.
oliver pointed out that’s like asking someone how their weekend was and they answer, “I DIDN’T JACK OFF INTO THE SLURPEE MACHINE!!” that’s not what you were asked, but if that’s how you answer, then we should probably go look at the security camera footage.
I’m still waiting for Chuck Grassley to tell us when he quit beating his wife.
Bear in mind that this is the same crowd who thought “What newspapers do you read?” was a gotcha question for Sarah Palin.
