Discussion: Franken Blasts Ted Cruz On Net Neutrality: He's 'Completely Wrong' (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #230210

Cruz isn’t just wrong, but without net neutrality we might as well shut down the internet and go back to doing things the old way because, at that point, it won’t be worth the hassle.

Thank you, Senator Franken.

By Senator Cruz’s logic, the phone company should have a say in whether I call Pizza Hut vs. Domino’s. Ridiculous!

Where have you been Senator ? I remember when you were on Air America you use to rant and rave about what was wrong with our government now that you have been there for (4) years did you get swallowed up by what you once railed against ?

I’d really like to see Sen Franken make this his cause.
He’s the right guy to continue to be in front of cameras in any venue.
This is just that important.

Yes, Senator Cruz, let’s have the internet controlled by corporate monopolies. What could possibly go wrong?

I wonder what his tune would be if Comcast throttled Fox content on Comcast systems?

Much like Pres Obama had to ā€œproveā€ to America that he wasn’t an angry black male, Sen Franken has to prove that he’s not a comedian to the American public…I think. That said, it’s time for the gloves to come off.

Net neutrality and all issues associated with it has been something Franken has been talking about and trying to legislate for years. I listened to him on Air America, and I didn’t hear railing. I heard someone concerned for the future of country and the progressive wing, and the only to bring change is to join the government. Some continue to sit on their hands and collect paychecks, that would be Ted Cruz, others show up at work and get something done. That would be Franken, who’s been in office since 2009…

ā€œSenator Cruz’s logicā€ is an oxymoron of the highest order.

Cruz is a handy barometer on the rightness or wrongness of things—if he’s for it, it’s wildly wrong and vice versa. It seems like his outrageous base-pandering requires him to take the opposite of any position that a normal person would naturally take on the basis of logic, ethics, practical outcomes or sheer common sense.

Imagine your electric company telling you that you need to buy the more expensive appliances because the cheaper ones won’t work. Imagine your water company telling you whether you can have a pool or not.

With this election the GOTP has gotten real uppity.

…and it would appear that (like Cruz) Candy Crowley
also hasn’t done her homework, and doesn’t realize
that this isn’t an attempt to change the internet,
it’s an attempt to preserve what we lucked into:
certainly the most significant pro-democratic entity in human history

[ETA: I’m not saying Cruz is too dumb to understand, but that he chooses not to understand, crassly advancing his politics, per usual…Crowley, on the other hand, lacks even that excuse…she’s merely being intellectually lazy]

I think Cruz understands. He just wants to be a fly in the ointment. Appealing to his idiot base.

Senator Franken is playing by the Senate rules…he’s new to the body, so he remains a bit under the radar. He makes alliances, does his homework on issues, chooses those he wishes to champion and learns the system. Unlike assholes in the gop like Cruz, Lee, Rubio et al, who disregard those ā€˜rules’ and shame the Senate with their bluster, bullshit and wanton craving for the spotlight, Franken is biding his time. He will not only become a great Senator, when he is more comfortable, he will feel free to use his rapier wit to belittle and destroy morons like Cruz.

It’s not that Cruz doesn’t know what Net Neutrality is and what it means. The man graduated cum laude from Princeton and magna cum laude from Harvard. He’s not stupid.

What he is, is an asshole.

As senator, his job description is different than it was.
