Discussion for article #243689
Who’s next, David Duke?
Ah, here’s the difference. She expects to actually have to govern if elected and realizes that.
Netanyahu and Marine Le Pen are denouncing him, which pretty much speaks for itself, Cameron called Jindal “a complete idiot” for saying what Trump said the other day about no-go zones in London, another 400K Brits want to ban him, he’s dumped on Merkel, been yelling about China since the beginning, Trudeau’s being all Glinda the Good Witch with Syrian immigrants the symbolism of which is hard to miss, the attitude from Mexico south can be guessed at—frankly, at this rate Trump better take Bezos up on the offer to shoot him into space, because he will have literally made himself buffoona non grata on the entire planet.
Ordinarily, I’d have to say that I’m for anything that Cheney, Netanyahu, and Le Pen are against.
Call me another victim of Trump’s disruptive effect.
“I defend all the French people in France, regardless of their origin, regardless of their religion.”
Trump’s plan was about people who weren’t American who weren’t in America, so I’m sort of confused at this response.
Friend Matt, I loved this post and it makes me miss the wit and wisdom of Ralph Von Horst because he too would be up to the task of taking down the short-fingered vulgarian.
I am laughing so hard I can’t stop.
I miss Ralph too! Hope things are going well for you if you read this, bud.
What you have here is a perfect oxymoron, reasonable conservatives, at least when it comes to discussing Muslims…
I love that post Matt. He is definitely working towards that end. It couldn’t happen to a more deserving idiot
Trump should care about how the rest of the world views him and, by extension, us. But he doesn’t. His path to the nomination is through the base, collateral damage be damned.
From the NYT article on Le Pen just cited:
…She campaigns against what she calls the Islamization of France and has compared Muslims praying in French streets to the Nazi occupation.
But Ms. Le Pen fuses her cultural chauvinism with appeals to the economic anxieties of working or lower-middle class voters who — like their counterparts across Europe — have suffered from high unemployment, stagnant wages and growing income inequality, especially since the financial crisis of 2008.
“They are pulling out all the stops for the migrants, the illegals, but who is looking out for our retirees?” Ms. Le Pen asked in a recent campaign appearance. “They are stealing from the poor to give to foreigners who did not even ask our permission to come here.”
Now that’s how you’re supposed to dog-whistle for Cripes Sake. Please, let’s not give her any credit for denouncing tRump, OK?
I think I will go with you only as far as reasonable sounding conservatives, at least when it comes to discussing Trump’s proposed ban on Muslim entry to the US.
Unfortunately there will never be an opportunity to get an answer from trump as to what he would propose in the case of Middle Eastern or Southeast Asian leaders entering the United States to go to the UN or the White House or to have a vacation or a round of golf at a Trump installation. He’d shine it on and say “we’re working on that.”
But, but, Trump is gonna make America respected in the world again! Even if he has to insult every one of these leaders to their face!
Buffoona non grata – I bow in awe before you.
Presumably, they will enter through the “big, very beautiful door” in the wall.
Details on how the door will filter out the other 99.99% of Muslims are as wispy and hard to pin down as that stuff on Trump’s head.
Yes, reasonable-sounding conservatives all know the way to do it isn’t to bellow that you won’t allow Muslims in, it’s to quietly say you’ll only allow Christians in. That way the media sees you as sober and responsible, in contrast to that singular hatemonger so unlike the rest of his party. Right, Jeb?
Well, shucks, persona non grata naturally comes to mind when you think about people making themselves obnoxious to entire countries, and “buffoon” naturally comes to mind when you think of Trump. Logical next step, really.
