And the new plant will be finished and employ those 13,000 workers at exactly the same time Donald Trump’s Mexican border wall is built.

So…we’ll have another empty building, paid for by the taxpayers to stroke the Chinese and give Donnie a pretend ‘win’ for a second. What a bunch of crap.

Dim wit Sean Duffy is spreading lies and disinformation about this, as usual. And, as far as I am concerned, Scott Walker can go f_ck himself. Both of them can, actually.

I guess Trump promised them even more taxpayer money. Maybe he gave them the contract for the LCD screens that will be inset in the Wall every 100 feet.

I was thinking about how long it will take to build it. He only has two years left. I bet they are gambling, just like with a border wall, things will not get serious on the commitment until then.Lots of soft work to do before breaking ground.

Wild guess: If it happens at all, 4,000 jobs max. Plant opens in 2021 or 2022.

The goal is going to keep getting downsized until all the factory makes is the display that blinks “12:00” on a VCR

So next time Terry Gou, Louis Woo or another Foxconn senior exec set foot in this country, Congress needs to subpoena their ass to testify under oath as to whether the President of one of his own promised them concessions that are against the law. Its all fair game folks. Lets dog walk these crooked SOBs straight to prison. No one is going to fight the criminal activities of the Trump syndicate for us.

It makes sense for them to set up a research hub here, I suppose, but a large manufacturing plant that could just as well be done in China for far less? Please. They played everyone involved.

110% on target. People are realizing that their are only two ways of dealing with Trump, (a) lie to him to make him feel like he is winning, then just do what you want, or (b) suck up to him with bribes/emoluments and or have compromising information on him. The North Koreans and FoxCon have tried the first approach, the Russians and Saudis have done the second.

Sure, sure. They have plan C to keep Trump off their backs, but are waiting to the next election to go back to B.

As someone who was in business competing against Foxconn directly from 1996 through 2006 I can say that they are as unethical as what we are now hearing about Huawei. I doubt they are as connected in to the Chinese government, but their corporate behavior is just as dirty. Maybe if this story drags on someone should dig into their business practices in a less superficial way than the press has done up to now. There’s a lot to find.

Because that’s how business works: Billion dollar deals hinge on arbitrary tax breaks and personal phone calls; not market trends and budgets. Foxconn originally claimed they wanted a small plant that would produce 2,000 factory jobs that were always dubious, talked it up to 13,000 factory jobs when that was what Walker wanted to hear, switched it to a Tech Campus so they could steal our ideas, and now we’re somewhere in between 2k and 13k jobs for a factory they just said they didn’t want.

The scary thing about America is that the pro-business party knows absolutely nothing about business. It’s all a fantasy about how good business people are ruined by bad government and the only solution is put businesses in control of the government. This factory went against Foxconn’s business model and the Bait & Switch was always the likely plan; yet Republicans think they saved the deal because they don’t even understand the game they’re playing.
