The only reason ISIS set the guy on fire was because the Western media had refused to show any more of the beheading videos. ISIS made the video because they want to send a message. And Fox News was more than happy to help the terrorists do so.

Why does Fox News support the terrorists?

Itā€™s not lost on anyone that FOX mission is to drive home the idea that President Obama is out of touch with reality, not calling ISIL Muslim terrorists, rather than simply being terrorists who just happen to be Muslimsā€¦just like FOX never called Timothy McVeigh a Christian Terrorist.

Headline in LA Times: ā€œU.S. intelligence warns of growing threat from Islamic Stateā€

So itā€™s endless war now as Orwell foretold. If we donā€™t face real threats, the Pentagon will invent them with Fox as an enabler.

ā€œThe reason weā€™re showing you this is to bring you the reality of Islamic terrorism and to label it as such. We feel you need to see it so we will put up one of these images on your screen right now,ā€ Baier said.

Fox News, Terrorist Helperā€ā„¢.

Also: Fox News, The Snuff Film Channelā€ā„¢.

Outrage porn, way more obscene than regular porn.

The film was made by ISIL to serve as propaganda. Fox News complied; they are after all a propaganda network.

War will be great for their ratings. For a while, at least.

Then why donā€™t they show crime scene photos on the news? Donā€™t they want to show the public that murderers are scum?

I skeeve on Fox News, which typically has the worst journalistic standards of anyone around, but donā€™t have a problem with their decision and think they handled it appropriately. In terms of telling the story in a way words cannot, this is no different from the iconic Vietnam era photos of a monk self-immolating or a terrified little girl running naked from a napalm fire bomb.
The reason weā€™re showing you this is to bring you the reality of Islamic terrorism ā€¦
Exactly how is this any different from the incendiary bombs the US used in Afghanistan and Iraq?? Where thousands fo people burn to death?

Oh, Right. itā€™s exactly the same.

No the reason Fox is showing this is to pump ratings and anti-Muslim hate.

We donā€™t purposefully bomb people in jail cells.

I disagree ā€“ those were photos by journalists of things as they happened, these are images hand-selected by ISISā€™s Ministry of Propaganda.

I donā€™t want to watch the video and donā€™t believe it should be shown. But if media outlets choose to air it, then so be it. But the line Iā€™ve quoted above shows that Fox News is airing it for political reasons and their own agenda. Not wholly unlike the very reason ISIL committed the act in the first place. But itā€™s Fox News so Iā€™m not exactly surprised. Last time around it was four dead Americans in Benghazi who all got their names raked through the mud by this network.

Fair point to make. Not sure that changes my opinion and, to the extent itā€™s propaganda, itā€™s just as likely to backfire (Jordan certainly seems to have redoubled its anti-ISIS efforts in the wake of the video), but itā€™s a good pointā€¦

That photo was always terrifying. The girl actually survived, and she lives in Canada now.

It wasnā€™t so long ago that the press was prevented from taking pictures of the coffins of dead soldiers that were coming back from Iraq.

Rupert and Roger can always be counted on for exceptionally bad taste.
