Discussion: Fox Settles With Former Contributor For $2.5M Over Assault Allegations

So, did they ADMIT criminal or civil responsibility or did they just pay her off to “shut up and go away”?

Wow, how did they find the time to lie and hate?

I still have no idea, and how did we miss this?

Fox News Settled Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Bill O’Reilly, Documents Show

In the weeks after Roger Ailes was ousted as the chairman of Fox News in July amid a sexual harassment scandal, company executives secretly struck an agreement with a longtime broadcast personality who had come forward with similar accusations about the network’s top host, Bill O’Reilly.

The employee, Juliet Huddy, had said that Mr. O’Reilly pursued a sexual relationship with her in 2011, at a time he exerted significant influence over her career. When she rebuffed his advances, he tried to derail her career, according to a draft of a letter from her lawyers to Fox News that was obtained by The New York Times.

So conservatives prefer to get all their news from sexual predators, more or less.

And 53% of White Women voted for Trump. Excellent.

So being FUX News, that works out to about $10 per grope?

Or just the world’s most expensive case of fellatio non-occurrus?.

And don’t forget that awful Andrea Tantaros is also suing Fox for sexual harassment.

Wasn’t Enzyte a network sponsor?

Fox very likely wouldn’t have had any criminal responsibility and they may not have had any civil liability either. Considering the number of women who’ve come forward alleging some kind of sexual assault, harassment, or misbehavior, I would think that at some point they could be held responsible for fostering that kind of work environment. While there was/is undoubtedly a corporate culture/rot that’s engendering the subjugation and degradation of women, you’ve got to wonder how much is rooted in the core beliefs of Conservatism.

Isn’t that sort of thing to be expected if you go to work in a brothel?

I think they are well beyond that point. Their internal investigation/action plan when they fired Ailes was all but a declaration of guilt. Every settlement after that is a further admittance of the same thing. Its now simply a matter of settling all the lawsuits as quietly as possible.

And that is a legal defense they will NOT be mounting. Ever. Much better to go with corrupt culture seeded by Ailes that we are very sorry for, than to argue that Conservatism is inherently misogynistic and therefore that lets them off the hook.

he settlement follows a $20 million settlement to former host Gretchen Carlson last year and the departure of two popular anchors, Greta Van Sustren and Megyn Kelly.

Looks like Fox is planning on “A Day Without a Woman Day” everyday.

And that’s probably better for all concerned.

I wasn’t referring to any legal defense. I was wondering aloud if the very core beliefs of Conservatism don’t directly contribute to fostering that kind of environment. That would be an idiotic legal argument, but I do think that in general misogyny is an entrenched and vital part of the Conservative ideology. You can’t really separate the two.

Looks like Gnarly Fiorina. Just sayin’.

They most definitely have civil liability and not just vicarious. They are well past the point where they are liable for negligent hiring, retention and supervision, and fostering and tolerating a hostile work environment.

Criminal liability? No. They’d just about have to be promoting sexual assault as a fringe benefit for that to happen.

It’s interesting that they made this settlement public. I guess the accusers are refusing to agree to confidential settlements.

You mean that oral sex and mysogynist authority wasn’t offered to the Fox News executives as a part of their benefits package? Geesh, what’s a right wing television network coming to. It’s a gosh darn sham (see what I did there), I tell you.

There is a legal term called persistent felony offender. When a judge finds someone who continues to violate the law they have the means to lock them up to protect the community. Megan’s Law for FNC employees.

“Sustren” is misspelled. It’s Susteren.

By this time and after this many charges and payouts, the Faux Group likely have a handy little slide scale to use to determine value and limitations.

Attempted BJ, 2.5 mil, no questions asked.
Ass grabs and titty swipes, 3 to 6 mil with possible public demeaning of accuser.
Requesting/demanding sexual favors in trade for future employment, 10 to 20 mil with probable full denial right up until payday.
Anything beyond luring, such as beck and call work or being shared amongst the office elites, full denial but the head man is shitcanned.
