I notice HE is not one of the folks he’s trying to demonize and none of the ladies called him on his idiocy.

Is he fucking serious? This is so pathetic because while he’s intending to denigrate single women, he’s also denigrating men. I don’t NEED a man. Never have, never will. When I’m in a relationship with a man it’s because I WANT him in my life, because I cherish and value him as a human being, but it’s never because I need him. Men who see themselves as nothing more than a paycheck basically see themselves as Johns, as tricks. And they see the women in their lives as whores. Only the truly pathetic want to be needed, healthy people want to be wanted.

So…basically this douchebagis saying that if a woman is married, the need for BC goes away. Because, after all, her husband can just pull out. If he wants to.

The death of white, male privilege in our society will take a long time, but guys like this idiot will hasten the process.

The only real question is, is he so willing to sell his soul to be on TV that he will say anything he is told?

I have a hard time believing he is that stupid. With others saying stupidly similar things it appears this is more of a Faux narrative at the moment. Stoking the base for the up coming election.

That explains why no married women depend on government. Brilliant!!

I wonder who will pay for HIS VIAGRA?? He’s getting close to the age when he’ll have a hard time getting and keeping it up, and most women won’t want to help him out unless he pays them.

Ah yes, Beyonce, an independently wealthy devoted wife and mother, who famously advised all the single ladies to tell their men to put a ring on it. What an affront to arglebargle everywhere!

Excellent. A silver lining in the dark cloud of the Hobby Lobby ruling is that it may bring more young women to the polls in 2014. The conservatives seemed determined to repeat their strategy of 2012 - alienating as many women voters as possible.

Cheap Trick Live at Budokhon…I want YOU…to want ME

This is a bit tangential, but the phenomenon you describe is much deeper than that. Money, or the ability to provide, is perhaps the most basic thing women look for in men.

An ancedotal story to illustrate my point. I had a roommate that was dating girls he met from match.com (yes, he finally did meet his now current wife that way). So I did an experiment with him. I went to one of those sites and entered two profiles. Only difference in them was the amount of money I made (in one, I listed under $20,000, the other, over $100,000). The poor profile…got zero matches…not a one. The rich profile had hundreds of matches instantly.

In today’s dating world, money most definitely is a big, if not the biggest, factor.

Nor is there anything pathetic about wanting to be needed. Its a pretty basic human emotion, actually. We all want to be valued for our input to a given situation, and if that input is viewed as crucial, all the better. The same applies in relationships. Later line in the same song…“I need you to need me”

It’s less a matter of stupidity and more a matter of ego. This guy relishes being an a__hole. He makes comments like this, not to advance any specific political agenda, but rather, because he gets off on trolling people. Nothing more, nothing less.

An old saying I have fits this guy perfectly. “I don’t think you are an a__hole because you republican…I think you are republican because you are an a__hole.”

Sure, it’s great to have a guy that makes plenty of money, but for most of the women I know it really isn’t the most basic thing we look for in a man. For me, the most basic thing I look for is security. I think that’s what you may be confusing with money. Most women want security meaning emotional and physical security. I want to know that my man isn’t going to hurt me emotionally or physically, that he can protect me from others and sometimes even myself. I want to know that he’s got his shit together and is secure in his life. I’m financially secure & I expect my mate to be as well. That’s not the same looking to a man for money.

Do the same experiment but instead of your profile incomes being $20,000 and $100,000, try $40,000 and $60,000. See what responses you get then. I think the problem is $20,000 screams dependant. Very few people, men or women, are looking for dependants.

This man, and I use the term loosely since most men I know are more intelligent and live in a real world, is just beyond bigoted. I feel sorry for any woman in his home, and the women on this panel should have been fired for not calling him on this comment.

My daughter has been a single mother of two children, and the only time she ever asked for financial help from the state was when the fathers of her children would not pay child support and she need child care help so she could work. She got child care assistance, and then got herself a job that paid enough that she did not need a man to support her or the government. She is my hero and an excellent mother who has instilled good values in both her children, all without the help of a man. She took responsibility for her life and her children’s lives, and for a man like this to say such a thing is offensive and reprehensible.

Even women living in poverty would not need government assistance if the fathers of their children would pay child support according to their means, and if programs like child care subsidies did not keep getting cut in favor of subsidies to big businesses. Maybe this clown ought to consider that when women are abandoned by jerks and need time to regroup and get a hand up, they might need a government program to help them with education and food and shelter for a short while. I suspect this jerk never had to support two children on his own without help from anyone - not wife, nanny, governess, grandmother, sister, girlfriend, etc. - just himself from birth to adulthood. If he had, I suspect he would be singing a different tune.
