Discussion: Fox News Was Alone In Its House Flip Prediction For Nearly An Hour. Why?

Makes sense to me.

Prediction For Nearly An Hour. Why?

Uuhhh
They’re not a news organization?
They don’t give a fuck ?
They’re used to getting things wrong and wouldn’t have to retract it ?

Or would have retracted it and acted like they didn’t, or were trying to get republicans scared and hope some folks would suddenly go out and vote?

Is that so? I seem to remember folks saying the House would flip months ago. What FOX did was look at the initial results, see them consistent with those predictions and then stick their neck out ( safely ) and make their call. It was a rash, albeit safely rash act, and not one of superior political acumen.

I think it was to stall voting going on in the west.

Even a blind fake news outlet finds an acorn every once in a while…

WTF? Logic over Bias at FOX? Even if they were wrong in this prediction, the fact that they were allowed to do so is astonishing.

Their polling and prognostication function is quite different from their newsroom.
They’ve not been bad at all in recent years and have much less a right leaning ‘house effect’ than Rassmusen or even Gallup.

Agree 100%. Their polling team seems to about the numbers, facts and statistical science. The rest of the organization over there may not, but their prediction team appears to be a completely separate entity.

Cf: Karl Rove’s 2012 meltdown when the Fox polling team called the election for Obama. Rove had his “real” numbers, but the polling team had the real numbers.

The article doesn’t note whether the time cited was eastern or western time one. I wouldn’t put it past Fox to try to discourage blue votes on the west coast by announcing an outcome before polls close.

That may be a bit paranoid on my part, but we’re talking about Fox here.

I don’t get it.

Nancy Pelosi and David Axelrod called it days before. Seems to me Fox was way late to face reality.
