Discussion: Fox News Warns Staff Against Online Polls After Hosts Cite Them Post-Debate

Purely a business decision. Fox lost a lot of viewership after they told their viewers that Romney would trounce Obama in 12. I know personally some GOP friends who stopped watching Fox after 2012 election.

rotflmao: FOX : always closing that barn door after the horses are out.

And please, FOX, donā€™t try to act all ā€˜filled with integrityā€™! Thatā€™s just laughable; youā€™ve never had any. Your own coverage is about as ā€œfair and balancedā€ as a Stormfront, Deadbart, or Drudge ā€˜poll.ā€™
Soā€¦Fuck you very muchā€¦but go get stuffed.

Now, now, donā€™t be biased. Fox has standards - low standards. And just because a corporationā€™s standards are in the gutter and smell like pre-treatment sewage is no reason to conclude they have no standards at all instead of having really bad ones.

I think itā€™s probably a post-Ailes attempt by James Murdoch to transition Fox News to a less obviously batshit level of Far-Right Fanboi-ism.

ā€¦Reached for comment, a Fox News representative pointed out to Talking Points Memo that many of the hosts who cited the bogus polls are talking butt heads, not journalistsā€¦

There, fixed it.

No, it feeds the ā€œelection is riggedā€ lie.

I was gonna post something along the same line, but you beat me to it. It appears that Obvious Joke Is Obvious.

Yeah, I immediately saw this as the first post-Ailes break-out. Long may it continue!

Wing nuts seeking comfort. ā€œFreepingā€ polls has been around for about as long as online polls have. For some reason the GOPā€™ers see value in doing that and they do it a lot. There are ways to prevent it but most of the polls listed above encourage flooding by not eliminating your IPā€™s eligibility after your initial vote. On Drudge you vote, reload the page and vote again. And do so as much as you like. Itā€™s voter fraud the GOPā€™ers can live with.

Thatā€™s an excellent point. Journalistic integrity aside, it would indeed make them look foolish (again) if they forecast that Trump was really ahead with the ā€œunskewedā€ online polls or some such nonsenseā€¦ followed by him getting smashed. Thatā€™s doubly important now when weā€™re likely to see a TrumpTV spring up in competition to Fox after the electionā€¦

Makes sense that theyā€™d try to nip this in the bud before the talking heads get way out in front of the story for the second timeā€¦

Fool us onceā€¦shame on youā€¦and they all moved full time to Breitbart and Drudge.

No Cable News operationā€™s ever had very many viewers. FOXā€™s claim of 3 million means less than 1 % of the American people watch it. The cable guys are competing for an audience made up of less than 10 % of the people in this country. The majority of Americanā€™s get their news from local TV. Iā€™ve never understood the fascination with FOX so many of its critics have.

Did anybody else pick up on the fact that he now refers to his campaign as MOVEMENT? (I figure it needs to be all caps as in the original tweet).

Now just where did I hear that term before ā€¦

For some reason, using the phrase, ā€œjournalistic integrityā€ in any comment about Fox News seems delusional.

More of the same, alternate reality does not exist anymore. We can all fact check instantaneously, so why do they even bother with the lies?
