Discussion: Fox News' Jeanine Pirro: Minorities Should Be More 'Sensitive' To Cops

Discussion for article #230944

This bit is like an old SNL skit. Except it’s not funny.

Edit: This brought to mind the N.W.A. song, “Fuck tha Police.”

Welcome to the Authoritarian States of America.

Do white people need to do the same?

Not to go all Godwin here, but this sounds more like 1930s Germany than the land of the free and home of the brave.

Yeah, those blacks deserve what they get for not being sensitive to the cops. Like when they walk too quickly…or not quickly enough. Or they put their hands in their pockets…or they take them out of their pockets…or they raise them.

Or they insist on breathing.

Jeannine Pirro is one of the most hateful and openly racist FoxNews talking heads.

She makes sociopaths seem like the kind of neighbors you want to have.

Surely even Roger Ailes - whose standards are, shall we be charitable and say quite low - can’t be stroking his wrinkled little penis to this one?

He has Megyn Kelly do that for him…

After a while this all becomes numbing. The deliberate insensitivity to the victims and their families is more than I can process.

At least Pirro was nice enough not to do the segment with her good friend Bernard Kerik.

Maybe she’d feel differently if the police had placed her husband in a chokehold when they came to arrest him for conspiracy and tax evasion.
Or even if they did a no-knock on her home with a team of heavily armed officers and forced her to the floor with a gun in her face while rousting her young sleeping children in the middle of the night.
But that doesn’t happen to affluent white professionals in Westchester- does it?
Even when the crime they committed, tax evasion, was exactly the same as Eric Garner.
Albert Pirro just had the resources to do it on a much larger scale.

If she said in front of a picture of an American flag waving in the wind, that makes it true. Because the flag has magic powers. Kind of like Jesus’ robe.

“Fox News anchor Jeanine Pirro said during her show on Sunday she agrees
with the idea that minorities need to be “trained” to be more
“sensitive” to police.”

Good Lord. Where does Fox find folks that stupid? Train entire racial groups to be more sensitive toward police? Look, the cops are not the goddam victims here. People of color are. Should that 12 yr old with the toy gun apologize to the police for being shot 12 seconds after they drove up? They shot the kid before they even got out of their patrol car fer crissakes! And the cop who did the deed has been shown as immature, unstable and a very poor shot. No, its the police who should be retrained.

Insensitivity is exactly what the NRA wants. Fear everyone. Kill them for the slightest affront. Have no guilt over it. If ya wound 'em so much the better. Kill 'em for being black, Hispanic, or green with blue polka dots. But never feel guilty over it.
Sensitivity ain’t needed.

Living a rational life is getting hard to do.

Don’t let it. That’s what this is intended to do. Resist the despair. It’s what they want you to feel. Just like the “slut-shaming” when someone claims to have been a victim of sexual assault, they launch this “thug-shaming” nonsense to shut down the conversation completely, to make it impossible to get a word in edgewise, to sow doubt and deter reports of these incidents for what they are. It is 100% designed from the ground up as a means of shutting up the victims and anyone who supports them by turning everything on its head and making it the victims’ fault, the supporters’ faults. As I keep saying, it’s a very carefully planned and deliberate way of shouting “NOW LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO!!!”

When a black man became POTUS, they’d fucking had it. They threw up their arms and were done. Killing blacks and minorities in the streets, using excessive force, shaming rape and sexual assault victims in the street and on TV…it’s subconsciously their way to trying to re-assert what they know they are losing, to put uppity people “back in their place” and re-order the universe to align with the comfortable belief in their superiority and power over others. To be clear, I’m certainly not arguing that there’s some causal connection between Obama being elected and an increase in these incidents, but there IS a causal connection between Obama being elected (twice…haha, scoreboard mofos) and their deeply felt need to make these arguments, vociferously and vehemently, about these sorts of incidents when people try to point them out for what they are. It’s a way for them to vent and say “know your place” and “maybe you should remember who is boss” and “don’t talk back and get smart with me” and such, all without actually saying those things outright. Instead, they’ve written themselves license to engage in a massive orgy of bigot rationalizations and the kind of broken psychology you see from someone who is and has been a lifelong domestic abuser…because at root that’s what we’re seeing here: the conservatives and our institutions systematically abusing a segment of society and desperately trying to justify that abuse and put it on the victim. The parallels are un-fucking-canny and I wish TPM would do something like run a comparison of the two with the help of an expert psych professor or something.
