Discussion: Fox News Has Mentioned Benghazi Over 1,100 Times In The Past Year

Discussion for article #222390

Perhaps Fox News can team up with their “sister station” CNN and they could look for a Benghazi smoking gun somewhere over the Indian ocean?

Not surprising. What is even more disgraceful is how people in the news business treat Faux Spews like its an actual news entity as opposed to the political propaganda outfit that it is.

I’m thinking the House Benghazi committee will backfire horribly. There already seems to be a sort of consensus among the mainstream media that the committee is a nakedly political attempt to excite the Republican base while tarring and feathering Obama and Clinton. I’ve noticed that some of the most prolific purveyors of “both sideserism” are dismissing it as political theater.

Even that stat belies the depth of their obsession. 1100 is only about 3 times a day. That doesn’t really seem like much.

It’s their wild accusations and insinuations that are more troubling than the number of times they say a word. It’s the fact that they don’t retract claims that have been disproven. It’s the fact that they continue to invite guests on to spew lies and misinformation.

But, it makes me wonder how many times they said “Yellowcake” from 2003 through “mission accomplished.”

So around Christmastime if we say, “‘What’s with you guys? You must have mentioned Benghazi 10,000 times?’ We’ll be LOW?!”

I would have guessed more than that since last Friday. Don’t you know there is nothing else going on in the world.

There seems to be a direct correlation between 2016 polling showing Hillary beating everybody by a lot and Benghazi! as the the biggest scandal since Teapot Dome.

1100/year does seem low for FoxNews. I hear it a dozen times in a single random ‘discussion’ segment on Fox, but the article deoesn’t clarify whether Benghazi is “mentioned” or a “chyron”.

Propagandists for Blue Bloods, putting on a show for the low IQ audience. The history of war, race, politics, sex and religion in America.

I think it’s becoming obvious to anyone outside of the Fox hermetically sealed bubble that “Bengazi” is a sort of “bear baiting” version of riling up their own base to get to the polls. Outside of that bubble, Bengazi gets no traction; it’s a deadender. For the true believers, it’s the second best motivator short of “repeal.”

Which makes me think that the GOP might be worried about the whole repeal thing going the way of the Dodo bird. Since that’s off the table (and let’s face it, it is), this foolishness is what they’ve got to get the morons to pull the lever for them.

Only 1100 times in a year? That’s only 3 times a day. Wimps. There are GOPers who say it 1100 times a week. Fox News better step up its game.

Very true, and it kind of strikes me as odd. If 2014 is supposed to be such a guaranteed win for Republicans, why are they retreating to attacks that really only appeal to their rabid base? You see Democrats developing a strategy that is as much about appealing to factions of their base as it is about appealing to the middle class and poor. The Republicans, on the other hand, seem to have gone all-in in appealing to the most angry and crazy among them. How is that a good idea, particularly as they head into primary season where the craziest of the crazies will be loudest?

Please re-read the post. That’s 3 programs per day average.

Yes. I stand corrected. (maybe the headline can as well) Thank you.

“…mentioned on no fewer than 1101 Fox News programs.”

I had the same impression, but the headline is actually misleading: Benghazi was mentioned on 1100 Fox programs in the past year. Even that seems to be low, but at least it’s more realistic.
