he and his family “left the hospital banged up, but alive.”

Sort of like most of the nation will feel on January 20th, 2021.

"I’d like to thank the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for ensuring that my family had a safe, crash-survivable vehicle. I’d also like to thank the publicly-funded Highway patrol.

Other than that, all government is useless and totally sucks!

At least until dinner, is my Romaine lettuce safe to eat again?"

Don’t expect any big redemption story out of this. That’s a screenwriter thing. In real life most people think, “Whoa, coulda checked out on that one. Makes you realize what’s important.” And they feel that for like a week or so and then they’re back to normal.

If you really appreciate life, then stop fucking lying every day in your job. Even if you have to switch networks.

Note from flyover country: AWD and 4WD help you go. They do not help you stop. And Suv’s with AWD can give you the worst of all possibilities if you don"t slow down: they skid and then they roll over.

Agree, but if you’re a costal elite with Christian Flyover Country God roots, then you can rest assured even when the car is over driven for the conditions, He will protect you, His child, with His plan which clearly included government overreach by activist liberals to make seat belt installation a requirement and then socialist snowflakes pushing big brother control by making seat belt laws compulsory.

This is how He works. It is mysterious.

Gee, he just has loads of thoughts and prayers.

I’ll bet you before this he railed against mandatory seat belts as an ‘unwarranted government intrusion’ into our private lives and an example of the ‘nanny state.’

I’ll bet all those government workers can’t afford to go skiing with their really important families cause Whiny and Beaker have held up their paychecks for more than a month.

Plus, I didn’t know Jesus’ was called ‘Zach’ in the Big Sky State…He’s not?..Then who helped the Baier’s out of their liberally mandated safe car? Was it the Good Guy With a Gun? Was he on time for a change? Bet Bret never asked if he was gay, either

I’m glad that his family is OK. And that they have health care with government-mandated clauses that means a family visit to the ER doesn’t bankrupt even a fox news commentator. And that they have enough money that the loss of a car (even temporarily) doesn’t mean loss of a job and loss of housing.

And eff him for not recognizing that everyone deserves that kind of support.

Don’t worry about it. Soon enough, we’ll have cut funding far enough that those first responders find that their positions don’t actually pay anymore, and then people like Brett can die on side of the road.

I’m glad Baier and his family are ok, as well as the others involved. Sanity is a relative thing on Faux, and he’s toward that end of their scale. I honestly would’ve had difficulty generating any sympathy for some of their other ‘personalities’ with all the damage they’ve helped inflict on the country.

Jeez, now you make me feel bad for thinking that there’s one blessing I won’t be able to count.

And, courtesy of Mr. Ambrose Bierce:
“Pray, v. To ask that the laws of the universe be annulled in behalf of a single petitioner, confessedly unworthy.”

Your time may be close! Find another employer and save your soul! THEN count your blessings.

“I’ve never unbuckled a dead body” - some highway patrol dude to my friend when we were teenagers, while giving the incident report to the local radio station one weekend.

But obviously it’s not just that individual choice (as in the choice to follow the LAW). As others have pointed out, it’s also the vehicle and road safety measures, the tax-payer-funded first responders, the availability of meaningful healthcare, and the fact that going to the ER doesn’t mean going bankrupt. That family is likely alive right now specifically because we don’t live in a libertarian paradise.

Well here’s an idea Bret. Quit your job and do something else with your life. Work for an actual news organization, you resemble a teevee journalist (visually).

Otherwise, it will be clear that the gift that is every day on this planet is one you plan to spend being highly compensated for “owning teh libs”.

After this, perhaps he should reflect on being on the wrong side of history.

I am wont to remind people, “All cars made in the last 100 years or so have 4-wheel stop.”

Bet he’s glad for all those government regulated safety features now…ha ha ha just kidding, he knows it was just not god’s time for them yet.
