I heard Grimaldi on KQEDās Forum a couple weeks ago. He doesnāt sound like heās in the bag for Trump. Or at least he didnāt on that program. I wouldnāt really know from his writing because WSJ paywall.
edit: I listened to this and it gave me heartburn thinking whether the āemailsā thing was a thing or not in terms of the election. Some of the callers were pretty frustrated at what they perceived the pandering to false equivalency.

Grimaldi is a Pulitzer prize winning investigative journalist (jack abramoff case) for Wapo and now WSJ. I just donāt get it, what does he think heās protecting by not declaring DJT a racist or ātrades in racismā? Why is it so hard to accept that an openly racist candidate will still get 40-45% of the popular vote? Doesnāt he realize what country he lives in, that the presence or absence of melanin is still a big deal for just under half the country? But his evident discomfort hopefully will go viral.

It could be that he just isnāt really comfortable in a live news setting, given heās a print journalist. The live medium really does want you to go āall inā on some POV and it seems like a failure if itās any less than that.
