How dare “they” misrepresent him by quoting him correctly.

“But he and others could do a better job of standing up directly and
denouncing these people and saying, whatever I think about immigration,
whatever I think about the threat from radical Islam, I’m not in any way
suggesting it is right for people to go out and commit these terrible
acts.”

Yeah. He could do a better job with that. As could others. And you know what else they could do a better job at, fuckface? They could do a better job CONDEMNING WHITE FUCKING NATIONALISM AS A RACIST AND FASCIST IDEOLOGY ENTIRELY INCONSISTENT WITH LIBERAL DEMOCRACY AND A PLURALIST SOCIETY. They could do better with that. It’s not just the “acts,” actually. It’s the repellent ideology. Nice try though.

Apologist. Word twister. There was no ‘misinterpretation’ of the “very fine people on both sides” remark by Trump after Charlottesville. He had just praised the Nazi/KKK terrorists for having been good citizens and obtaining a permit… as opposed to the counter-protesters.

Well, he didn’t say “good people”, he said “very fine people”. Any collector will tell you that “very fine” is several grades above “good”.

I thought he got his message across very clearly. So did the neo-Nazis.

“The idea he is out there deliberately giving support and succor to these white supremacists is not true,” he added [yes, it is true]. “But he and others could do a better job of standing up directly and denouncing these people [d’ya think? but, he doesn’t want to denounce them because …] and saying, whatever I think about immigration, whatever I think about the threat from radical Islam [and can we throw in people of color? and, by the way, he thinks exactly like the white supremacists do], I’m not in any way suggesting it is right for people to go out and commit these terrible acts [and make me look bad by associating me with it].”

…but as sometimes happens, he didn’t get his message across very clearly.

Oh he got his message across loud and clear, as pretty much always happens.

Sorry - but this is not simply clumsy syntax … Trump and his communications team may be inept & dense … but not to the extent that they have no culpability in this mudslide of hate. No sir… the ugliness that they are enabling is fully intentional.

He then added that it was merely coincidence that almost all of them were members of his administration.

And yes those guys aren’t too bright, but they can recognize one of their own.

What? And disaffect almost all of his base??? Will never happen.

Trump approaches politics, and everything in his life, as transactional. Fueling white supremacy is just another way to maintain a solid audience/vote base. What makes Trump an ever better salesman of white supremacy though is that he feels it.

In our American political tapestry these days, Trump is the warp and white racism is the woof.

And while the warp can always claim not to be the woof, it can’t extricate itself from the tapestry woven from both threads.

When anyone (Mulvaney, Conway, Hucksanders, Baker, et al) claims Trump isn’t a racist, that is exactly what is happening.

Trump: NO NO NO. I want more of it. I love it and so do my supporters. Also Pirro loves it.

Maybe he could also stop re-tweeting hate posts, especially right after he has posted a tepid sad statement about their crimes. That might help make it clear that he doesn’t support them.

Republicans…why did it have to be Republicans?

Yep, they go too far with these terrible acts. It’s like Louie said. Fascism is best instituted by means of legislatures and courts. Got to do this the right way.

“He wasn’t actually saying that there were good neo-Nazis”

Wrong fuckwit. Absolutely 100% delusional bullshit.

He said among the crowd—the crowd, you know, screaming jews will not replace us—were very fine people. Which ones were the good ones then, and which were bad, according to this shit bird? Did he do a survey?
