Discussion: Fox Affiliate Apologizes On-Air For Misrepresenting Protester Chant

Discussion for article #231441

Sue them for every penny you can get out of Murdoch’s pockets!

So the station apologized, and the interviewer apologized. But I really doubt the interviewer was the one who did the initial report, or did the editing. So who is the station apologizing for? Someone needs to be held accountable. That’s what conservatives are all about, right? Accountability? So how 'bout some specific individual owning this “mistake” and, you know, answering her question: how could this be a mistake? And if if the station finds it wasn’t a mistake, how bout somebody gets fired?

“Although last night’s report reflected an honest misunderstanding of what the protesters were saying, we apologize for the error,” the post read.

Yes, you hear what you want to hear (and what your target viewers want to hear). A real journalist would ask the protestors what they were chanting. Which explains why Fox News didn’t.

Well, the local Fox station WSVN in my area reported this morning that protesters have been chanting, ‘What do we want, dead cops’.

I don’t believe it was an error, I think they heard exactly what she was chanting but they edited the video to fix their narrative.

Seems more than reasonable to me.

But…conservatives. It will never happen.

These are not “honest mistakes”.

Not by a long shot.

Mam you fear for your life, that’s a given. Mr. Fox news owes you unlimited security, a safe and decent place to live, and a very large cash settlement for all your troubles. Now mam you are free to sue Fox.

Fox News doesn’t care about people, they only care about money.

Are you in South Florida?

The first I heard of this so-called chant was on a public radio program on WEAA, which is affiliated with Morgan State University. The host, Sean Yoes, was presenting this chant as a fact and was in high dudgeon about it.

This is the only way to get Faux"news" to admit to anything: publicly shame them and bludgeon them with facts and truth, loudly and repeatedly until they’re forced to back down… Unfortunately with the likes of Tweety, Gregory and Chucky The Toad dominating MSM, it’ll never become a force…

But what about all the other Fox stations carrying this news? Their listeners will never know anything about this distortion.

Most importantly, what does Rust think? It sounds like Fox is responsible for two murders.

“At the end of the day, people’s lives are on the line,” she said. “Now, even though we’re doing this, I still don’t feel safe because I still feel like the message is out there.” (emphasis added)

Which was precisely the station’s intention.

If someone is hurt or killed thanks to this, this will be a real case of ¨blood on their hands¨.

Just a teeny weenie little Faux fuck up, that’s all. It’s no biggie-happens every day.

Deliberately falsifying news events should be grounds for immediate suspension of the station’s license, severe fines for the corporate entity, and jail time for the accountable personnel, including top executives, especially top executives. The country cannot afford this shit.

No, they weren’t “honest mistakes”. Nor were they “mistakes”. It was deliberate and I don’t think there’s such a thing as a deliberate mistake. But what do I know, I’m not a journo.

BTW, was late to the party on the debt-ridden slacker Millennials last week. I also have two Millennials (or should I say they once had me) carrying about $140K of college debt, and I too am old and tired. Enjoyed your posts on that thread.

Honest misunderstanding my arse! It was deliberately misleading, designed to push the Fox message of “'Murica!, torture is awesome”.
