Discussion: Former Tennis Star Mistakenly Identified, Handcuffed By White Cops

Officers’ explanation: “But, but, but…he’s black and he was standing in front of this nice hotel wearing a nice suit, we knew he had to be up to no good.”

I wish the above was a joke, but I’m afraid it isn’t.

I can’t wait for all the good cops to denounce this…because I don’t think I’ll live that long.

But of course, there is no longer any racism in America. Are you following this Justice Roberts?

Right Winger say “If black people would just make something of themselves and blah, blah…blah”. It doesn’t matter to law enforcement because blackness is the crime.

Would it be surprising if the “two people” who identified him as an identity thief were also two of the cops that tackled him? And that the “identity” they knew he stole was that of a non-criminal, when it was so obvious that he was one?

Tennis starts with T and that rhymes with P and that stands for Police, right here in River City.

The identity theft thing sounds off. Isn’t that a cyber crime? ID theft in NYC happens in Moscow and Kiev.

And it’s at least ironic, given they say they mixed up Blake’s identity with the identity thief guy.

Officer explained “These thugs all look alike”

Maybe he ‘made eye contact’ …

You’re right. That wasn’t so hard. I still have plenty of energy left to throw him on the ground and tase him. You might want to step back a little. There could be gunfire.

And, said the cops, he acted like he thought we were looking at him funny.

Slammed to the ground… My first thought: Blake had a horrible spinal cord injury a decade ago! You could break his neck all over again!

A five cop tackle is now SOP for identity theft?

So. Mistakenly Identified, tackled and then handcuffed? So if a criminal had been caught and correctly identified, it would be perfectly acceptable to throw him to the ground? As standard operating procedure? That’s no way to treat anyone for a non-violent crime, and only a little bit of leeway if the crime was violent and then only if the apprehendee shows signs of resistance.

Look! – I’m just tired of it! Will you people please stop it? – Stop it! Stop being black, won’t you!?

If I were James Blake, I’d sue NYC and those officers criminally and civilly. NYC for $150M and the officers for $50M a piece. Permanently damaged elbow and knees.

That was the problem, he was standing in front of a white only hotel in a white only part of NYC wearing a suit not a bellhop uniform and he can’t pass the brown bag test…

Hmm. F^ckheads?

Goons and thugs out of control.

Even if he were the perp, he should have been treated like that?

Wall Street biggies bilked the country out of a few billion, and the closest they ever get to a sidewalk is when they’re stepping into the limo.
