He is conservative, but I don’t recall him being crazy, at least not by today’s standards.
IOW the Gov is looking to run in 2020, therefore he made sure the deck was swept clean. …
Read is Wiki page. He’s fucking nuts, too.
One of the things he’s most known for is pulling alt-facts (aka bullshit) out of his ass, stating it as fact, and then, after being busted, have an aide stroll out and say “The Senator’s comments weren’t meant to be factual.”
Yeah, he’s that guy.
He is a raging ideologue plutocrat douchebag who is about as racist as they come, should be tied to a set of RR tracks and, from my understanding, was heavily involved in pushing Kavanaugh through his first nomination/confirmation hearings.
Kyl would need a ladder to reach McCain’s knee.
Kyl spoke on the Senate floor and claimed that performing abortions is “well over 90 percent of what Planned Parenthood does.” A spokesperson for Kyl later claimed the senator’s remark “was not intended to be a factual statement.”
My husband just read that he’s only committed to serve until January.
Well there you go, a current Republican would scream fake news and demand that you prove him wrong.
“He’s currently working as a top adviser to Judge Brett Kavanaugh as Republicans try to get him confirmed to the Supreme Court.”
All you need to know.
Come for the Kavanaugh, stay for the lame duck.
" …and now will soon get to vote on Kavanaugh’s confirmation."
Cue Metallica: “…and nothing else matters.”
Ugh…This feels like a Monday. I haven’t even gotten my sea legs yet. Nothing but shitty news so far today and all the coffee in Columbia won’t help one bit as this day progresses.
Jon “not meant to be a factual statement” Kyl…horrible choice, but unsurprising.
So if McSally loses, Kyl will resign the seat he’s just been appointed to so that she can go to the senate? What kind of corruption is that.
I gotta say: with all the speculation this weekend as to the successor, nowhere have I seen this name pop up.
Kyl filling McCain’s seat was completely expected. McConnell just got an extra vote to play with.
Great, another old, white guy. Just what the senate needs.
+1. I would have preferred his wife, but this is the next best option. Plus Kyl will be unlikely to run again in 2020, so it will be an open seat.
I think that is exactly what is going on. However, it will give a better shot at the seat for us in 2020 than if someone had been appointed who would run in 2020. Plus this will cause the republican crazy’s to take a shot in 2020 pushing the eventual R nominee to the right.
While I don’t like Kyl at all, he is not even 5% of the man and is not 1% as honest as McCain, its as good as can be expected.
Assuming, of course, that if Ducey loses his election to David Garcia, Ducey doesn’t appoint himself as Senator in the lame duck period.
