Discussion: Former Rand Paul Staffer Accused Of Voter Fraud, Has Voting Rights Stripped

Discussion for article #247204

Republican operatives attempt to commit voter registration fraud to manipulate election outcome. I wonder, did he have to show ID?

“Voting rights is a bigger issue than John Yob or anyone else – it is a fundamental right that should not be infringed upon by biased officials.”

It’s situations like this that makes me wish hypocrisy was immediately fatal.

At least from the article as presented, it is very difficult to see on what ground the judge issued the restraining order. The law and the actual date of arrival seem rather straightforward matters.

EDIT ADD: Ah, here we go. Yob’s position is:

The requirement is 90 days from the next election in August of 2016, not 90 days from the time you move to St. John. I live on St. John with my family, and my children go to school on St John. I was truthful when I stated on my form that I moved to St. John in 2015.

It is further reported that “MIRS, a subscription political news service in Michigan, reported that Yob recently moved to the Virgin Islands…” [emphasis added] But who knows what “recently” comprises.

Once again the party that worries about voter fraud is only too happy to commit it.

Ah, so another potential Ted Cruz scheme. Give the slimy little liar credit…he knows his way around the rule book.

Whatever this turns out to be, the strategy will hereinafter be referred to as a “Yob Job.”

Honestly?

Seems to me, Repulicans see voter fraud everywhere only because they are thinking they’d do it themselves, if they could get away with it!

On a side note, Yob and his wife, and their two friends, may be the only 4 Republicans down here, if you exclude tourists and snow-birds…

It may be that the law itself was seen by the judge as unconstitutional, at least as it would apply to voting for President. As far as I’m aware, one is always eligible to register and vote at a new address, whatever the state or territory. I would hope that would be the case!

The “grounds” were that he is a Cruz supporter. LOL

it seems to me that determining exactly WHEN these people moved to the US Virgin Islands should be very simple. Research of flight manifests, looking into property rental/purchase, utility hook-ups, school enrollment AND school attendance, etc. should provide a time frame.

it’s not like they drove down there from Michigan. of course, these are Cruzophiles we’re talking about here so the groundwork for the scam may well have been laid in advance…

Interesting. The Republicans really have developed a taste for … the blood of other Republicans. We, long ago, entered Zombie territory.

Or is this just another in a long line of ‘IOIYAAR’?

Facebook pages are legal documents? Jeez.

According to the Virgin Islands Election System’s web site, one must both be registering (Correction: a resident) at least 90 days prior to a primary or general election and be a resident of a Virgin Islands district for at least 90 days. If Yob doesn’t meet the latter requirement, the merits of the former are immaterial. An odd decision by the judge, I think.

I knew that name rang a bell. Or, got rung like one.

John Yob, the national political director for the Rand Paul campaign, posted on Facebook early Friday morning he’d been punched in the face inside the bar by a man he said is the deputy campaign manager for Rubio, a Florida senator.

Normally? Zombies eat brains.

So yeah, considering ®s are deficient-- blood would probably be next on the menu.

Only if he is black.

It’s one heck of a way to bolster the case that we need more laws to deter voter fraud.
