I just Googled Joseph Dee Morrissey (born September 23, 1957)…so he’s 11 years younger than me, and he was sleeping with a 17 year old when he was in his 50’s? They have two children?

Morrissey attracted national attention in January 2013, when during a debate on gun control he pulled an unloaded AK-47 from under his desk and flourished it on the floor of the House of Delegates, after a Republican-controlled subcommittee had killed a bill of his that would have tightened gun controls in the commonwealth on weapons such as AK-47s. He announced, “A lot of people don’t know that in many locations in the commonwealth, you can take this gun, you can walk in the middle of Main Street loaded and not be in violation of the law.”
Sounds like he may have flourished his 17 year old receptionist on the floor, also. Are you saying that being against weapons such as an AK-47, makes it okay to have sex with a child? Doing so does not make his life “interesting”. It makes him a criminal.
That depends on when you have the sex. As far as I know, it’s legal for an adult to marry a 17 year old in all 50 states. If you have sex without marrying, it’s a crime. If you get married first, you have the blessing of the state.
Remember, he is ABOUT TO get married, and the couple already have two children.
So we have here a criminal, running for mayor of a city in VA.

His position on arms control is salaciously proportional: the longer it is, the more he wants it controlled, to where for short enough arms, he’s virtually supine.

In my state (CT, not some “get hitched at 14” rural backwater), the age of consent is 16. No crime, married or not.
This is a like some variation on that joke about the dude feeling so poorly he goes to get checked out medically, and after a thorough examination and raft of tests, his doctor says, I’ve got good news and bad news. The dude says, Hit me with the bad news first, Doc, so the doctor puts a hand on his patient’s shoulder saying, I’m sorry to have to tell you’ve only got 6 months left. The dude immediately gets despondent, then suddenly brightens as he remembers, What about that GOOD news, Doc? The doctor takes him by the arm, escorts him out to patient reception then says, You see that receptionist? Dude says, Wow, what a looker, and REALLY young! And the doctor says: I’m nailing her …
I’m curious. If they’re going to a 19th Century fancy-dress event, what do you think she should be wearing?
What’s even more astonishing is that his career survived his 2001-2002 legal troubles. In disbarring him, the court said:
Evidence … demonstrates Morrissey’s 15-year history of contempt citations, reprimands, fines, suspensions, and even incarcerations arising from unprofessional conduct mostly involving an uncontrollable temper, inappropriate responses to stress and dishonesty.
For most of us, that would have been the end, and we’d have been stuck working minimum wage drudge jobs for the rest of our lives. It takes some genuine skill, of an admittedly peculiar kind, to come back from that.
Of course, this is how someone like Trump can be a serious candidate. It’s hard to predict what voters will be willing to overlook.
