Just heard Steve Schmidt (Republican commentator but tends to be reasonable and intelligent) say he thought the Dems made a mistake with this rebuttal. He thought it would have been an ideal time to feature a younger, “upcoming” Democratic leader - Kamala Harris, maybe. He may have a point.
He can kiss the blackest part of my ass. He didn’t have any of that shit to say when it was one decrepit Republican after another. He didn’t have any of that to say about the old ass, misshapen, orange asshole who lets his top aide rub her feet on the couch. None. I thought Beshear was excellent. Yes, I’m completely biased. I’ll admit that. But if the supposed problem is that we’re not speaking to rural, WCW voters, that we’re not speaking their language, we just put up a person who did exactly that. Still, it’s not good enough. SMDH

My husband & I thought Beshear did an excellent job. I was really taken aback by Schmidt’s and Maddow’s dismissal of his speech. I liked the setting too. Nice change from a person alone in some location. He made a lot of good points. There will be opportunities for a younger Democrat to give speeches but Beshear, having been a governor of a state that is one that Trump is always claiming he will help, blah, blah, he seemed like a good choice.
Schumer and Pelosi love it just the way it is. It’s ridiculous, reaching into the past and dragging out a former governor instead of tomorrow’s new younger leadership currently employed by the ‘D’ party.

Not so sure about that. Beshear has actually done something in a republican state. A really really red state. If the dem’s can go about working with folks like that to rebuild the party at the state level… we are on to something. Most folks didn’t watch the speech, will catch it online or read about it today. I think he was a great choice. We can’t just go to the ‘marketing’ aspect of promoting our candidates… look how well that worked out for Rubio
I was angry about that too. Steve Beshear was a very good Governor and is very nice man. I thought the Dems made it pretty clear as to why they chose him - ACA success in a red state + appeal to those rural white voters with some down home common fucking sense.
I was taken aback with Schmidt’s and Rachel’s dismissal of the speech too because they focused on the age thing and the future of the party. Well What The Fuck…Beshear is the same age as Saint Fucking BERNIE!!!
