“The nature of Judge Kavanaugh’s testimony” is exactly the reason the Senate should deny confirmation of this nomination. He demonstrated clearly that he has no place on the Supreme Court, nor on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. He is not an impartial judge of the facts and he lacks the temperament to sit on any court. This, of course, will not matter to his partisan supporters in the Senate. Hopefully, a few will demonstrate real courage and vote “no” on Kavanaugh.

It takes some courage for lawyers known to the nominee to speak out–it may come back to haunt them in their practices. But it takes real guts for his former clerks to stand up. Their resumes say that they clerked for him; clerking for a court of appeals judge is a real headline on most lawyers’ resumes. And now they will have his enmity, and enmity from those who support him.

Although it should be noted that:

1. Maryland did raise its drinking age to 21 before Bart reached 18.
2. In every state I’ve been in, providing alcohol to minors is a crime as is being a minor in possession. Bart’s protestations to the contrary, he was breaking the law regularly with his buddies in the jock clique.
