You want to know how to create terrorists? This is how you create terrorists.

Lawrence O’Donnell just asked his panel tonight ‘what should we call these facilities?’, meaning ‘jails’, ‘internment camps’, etc…

My vote is ‘Trump Hotels’.

Yeah, sigh. :expressionless: The rot was there since the 80s but really set in big time during the Bush-Cheney years. I got an unmistakable sense that this country was headed towards fascism with our war of choice in Iraq, normalization of torture as an instrument of national policy (John Yoo, may you rot in hell) and Cheney’s fascistic “unitary executive” theory. I strongly felt that Bush/Cheney had set the stage for a kind of fascism and demagoguery in the future. I had high hopes for Obama and a New New Deal, but I grossly underestimated the institutional racism in this country and the utterly corrupting power of big money. I never thought things would get this bad until Trump got elected.

I lived through the Vietnam era as a teenager, acutely aware of the war and the harm it was doing to our Nation. It did feel like the country was being torn apart, but I also felt that we could bounce back – even though the 1970s really sucked.

But this does feel different. The GOP has morphed into a fascist party, and as long as it remains in power it will continue to erode our governmental institutions and subvert the rule of law. Things could definitely get worse.

Absolutely right. I can’t understand why habeus corpus actions haven’t been brought for each and every one of the forcibly separated children. I also think that kidnapping charges could be brought against each ICE agent - just following orders - and Homeland.Security Dept officials.

Sadly I think they will. I was a young adult during the Vietnam years. 1968 was my first opportunity to vote. I haven’t missed an opportunity to vote since then.
Today it feels like the country is about to blow a gasket. And it is completely trump’s fault.

From Palestine to Dublin, many a terrorist has been made in the prisons and internment camps of powerful and predatory nations. We’ll see if it happens here too.

MS-13 was hatched by LA kids who HAD families here. Imagine what mayhem machines we are developing with these orphans.

This time there must be consequences.

This is NOT OK.
Every single person connected with this crime against humanity must face punishment.
There can be no exceptions.

Not just undocumented immigrants - because they’re growing up without families, they’re more likely to become gang members. This is literally how MS-13 got started.
