“I can no longer stand with a Republican Party that is led by a man I firmly believe is taking the party of Lincoln in a direction I fundamentally disagree with, and a party that is unwilling to stand up to him,” Djou wrote.

“I can no longer stand with a Republican Party that is led by a man I firmly believe is taking the party of Lincoln in a direction I fundamentally disagree with, and a party that is completely unwilling, and too intimidated and cowardly to stand up to him,” Djou wrote.

There, fixed it!

Somehow the party of Lincoln seems more like the party of George Lincoln Rockwell these days. I’ll get excited when a Republican in the House or Senate now leaves the GOP.

It’s hard enough being a Republican in Hawaii even without Trump.

“How could ever saying ‘Good morning’ in the wrong language be bad?”

“Too many Republicans either applaud Trump’s tirades or greet them with silent acceptance.”

It’s embarrassing.

Like watching the loneliest losers at CPAC try to pick up the NRA-booth hostess by quoting Mike Huckabee.

Hawaii? That rock out in the ocean?

Where’s his birth certificate?

I don’t know anything about this guy or the policies he supported while in office, but good for him for this.

About time, though, geez.
But it’s never too late to come to Jesus, I guess.

OT, but there needs to be a ‘Dislike’ button on tweets.

Are you mad? Going against someone with a Twitter account? I value my life, sir! Now excuse me, I have to vote on a pro-gun bill.

There are no Republicans in Congress, only Trumpublicans. I hope more people wake up and leave that traitorous party.

A Repub who is capitalizing on denouncing Trump and his fellow Repubs. Whatever. I hope it’s a trend.

OK, yeah, but I hate to break it to you that the GOP hasn’t been the “Party of Lincoln” for several generations now.

Somebody from the Aloha state decided that he needed to rebrand his CV and it makes the news cycle. Was nothing else at all happening anywhere else in the solar system?

Did he really think the GOP had anything of Lincoln left in them before Trump came along?

This comes just over a week after one of the five Republicans in the Hawaii House (out of 51 representatives) wrote an op-ed whining about the prospect of gerrymandering. State law mandates that the majority and opposition parties in the House and Senate each appoint two members of the reapportionment committee, and apparently this is grossly unfair to Republicans because they are so unpopular that they have no state Senators anymore. At this point, you’d have to specially gerrymander a district in Hawaii to elect one Republican to the Senate.

Of course, a big reason why everyone hates them here is because people like Gene Ward and fellow buttsex-obsessed lunatic Bob McDermott have forced out nearly all the sane Republicans for not signing on to the full wingnut agenda and backing Trump 100%. There’s one left and I’m pretty sure she will switch soon.

The downside is that the Democrats are stuck with a bunch of literal DINOs. Among them is Tulsi Gabbard’s father Mike, who switched parties in the 90s IIRC.

PS - it’s worth noting that Djou only won a seat in Congress because it was a special election with no primary or runoff, and two Democrats split the vote; he only got 39%.

Just because a republican still has a trace of a conscience, a shred of decency, or a nanoparticle’s worth of knowing the difference between right and wrong doesn’t make them a good person, who should be embraced by polite society.

If you’re still a republican after 1980, you’ve made the choice of being on the wrong side of history. You’ve chosen to ally yourself wth an ideology and political practice that bundles all of the worst of human impulses.

You’ve made common cause with liars, bigots, racists, and inbred imbeciles.

You’ve chosen the side of corrupt capitalists and evangelical hypocrites.

You’ve decided to pretend to embrace the light of common human decency, while pretending that everything you’ve held dear for decades has somehow just recently lost it’s way and been corrupted by Trump.

Trump is the very essence of what you believe. He is the id of the republican party and especially its base. Trump is what you see when you look in the mirror, because Trump is who you really are.

Just because your little experiment went horribly wrong, doesn’t mean you’re not responsible when the monster you helped create escapes from the lab and now terrorizes all of us.
