That’s definitely gonna leave a mark.

RINO obviously. Always has been. As you might recall, he didn’t go all-in for death-penalty with Bill and only settled for impeachable offences.

she nominated Chertoff to be Homeland Security secretary in 2005

Not-the-President did what now?

It’s nice to see responsible adults saying, “Look, I have differences of opinions with Clinton. I may not even like her as a person… but for god’s sake, look at the alternative! Say what you will about her, she knows what it looks like to govern. She can do the job, and the alternative is unimaginable.”

People all over the country are just starting to wake up to the realization that they’ve been systematically and relentlessly duped for the past three decades. This realization will likely cause a massive backlash against the Republicans that will seriously hurt them over the next several election cycles.

It’s unlikely any of this is being picked up by the polls since polling is always a lagging indicator. I find it very hard to believe, though, that so many prominent Republicans and Republican leaning newspapers could be endorsing Clinton without it affecting the way Republicans vote. I really think the polls are missing a huge shift in how people will vote this year, but we’ll see in five weeks.

Indeed. Since when do Senators get to nominate Cabinet officers? Has someone changed the Constitution when I wasn’t looking?

I’m having a hard time even figuring out who wrote this. There is no identification of the author and clicking on the name returns “No profile with that username”. Is this someone who walked in off the street with the article in hand?

In contrast with the irresponsible majority who squeal about her in terms that would be more appropriate for an earthbound asteroid 30 miles wide.

In other news today, Wile E. Coyote announced he was endorsing the Road Runner for President.

In a written statement, the perpetual predator and ACME enthusiast said that, “While Mr. Roadrunner and I have certainly had our differences over the years, even I can plainly see that Daffy Duck has never been capable of successfully doing anything that he’s ever tried. He will also send very mixed and dangerous messages to our allies about whether it is actually duck season or rabbit season. And even more importantly, Mr. Duck simply doesn’t have the temperament to deal with the pressures of running the most powerful democracy in the world.”

“Unlike Mr. Duck, Mr. Roadrunner has, in my dealings with him, shown great skill and deftness in dealing with unexpected situations, and I believe he will bring this skill and ability to adapt to changing conditions to the Presidency. Therefore I endorse Mr. Roadrunner and wish him all the meep meep for his future.”

Indeed. It’s also nice to see the former head of Homeland Security actually putting the security of the homeland ahead of his party’s interests. In fact, since he’s a Republican it’s beyond nice and into incredible territory.

hummmm a bit of correct - history

Tuesday, January 11, 2005 Posted: 12:00 PM EST (1700 GMT)

WASHINGTON (CNN) – President Bush on Tuesday nominated federal appeals court Judge Michael Chertoff to replace Tom Ridge as the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.

now - on Bloomberg it is more accurately stated -

"Clinton later cast the only vote in the Senate against him when he was nominated in 2001 to head the Justice Department’s criminal division. She was also the lone no vote against Chertoff in 2003 when he was nominated to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the third circuit. "

“Chertoff’s relationship with Clinton began to heal after he was nominated to be the second secretary of Homeland Security, in 2005. Clinton voted for him that time.”

Chertoff said that while he was secretary, he found Clinton to be “clear eyed and tough on national security issues.”

While I am not personally fond of Michael “Skeletor” Chertoff (he’s a real winger, and “Homeland Security” is the biggest fraud perpetrated by the GOP), I do applaud his good taste in Presidential candidates. It’s good that not all Republicans are lining up behind The Vulgar Talking Yam. I can’t wait for the post mortem on this election.

Huge … Bigly Huge —

Another TPM attempt to rewrite a source article to the detriment of truth and accuracy. No wonder they don’t want to identify the culprit.

Never loved the guy, but . . . Nice to find out there’s an adult in the Republican room. He’s beyond the "Nominee of my party . . . ". B.S.

Of course, it is easier to take the high road as he isn’t running for reelection in a red district – that seems to have a major impact on an R’s moral sense.

Especially since everybody knows it’s BASEBALL season. (Sorry, watched a lot of Looney Tunes growing up.)

Trump goes 0 for 4 … can’t get even a luke-warm word from a single one - these are people who have monitored / managed the powder-kegs of instability and they all think Trump is a Bat-shit crazy threat to the world’s existence.

Tom Ridge, the former Pennsylvania governor and 1st U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security —

“Most fundamentally, Mr. Trump lacks the character, values, and experience to be president. He weakens U.S. moral authority as the leader of the free world. He appears to lack basic knowledge about and belief in the U.S. Constitution, U.S. laws, and U.S. institutions, including religious tolerance, freedom of the press, and an independent judiciary.

Michael Chertoff 2nd U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security

Janet Napolitano 3rd U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security

Jeh Johnson 4th U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security

Extra point that must be driven home - Trump is irrational and unstable - that is problem one … he may do something catastrophic … or not …
BUT -problem two- the world is filled with many many unstable - ego-crazed - dictators / power mad loons - and reckless insulting irrational, rude, insulting, threatening actions and words can have consequences - it can set off crazy idiots and they can do highly destructive things that will trigger more damage than Trump’s pin head can comprehend.
