Discussion for article #233531
This is total BS. There are many veterans who will attest to the long sweaty hours that Bill O’Reilly spent in the Combat Zone. There are many stories about how he went down on two professionals from the other side on LaGrange Street.
War zone, protest zone… what’s the difference?
/O’Reilly
Well, this establishes once and for all that Bill O’Reilly’s entire life has been a work of fiction. No reality anywhere, just fabrication.
Keep digging, Billo. Enough invective and doubling down and you’ll come out clean on the other side. Bound to. Because if Fox starts firing people for lying, it’s all over.
Oops. Accidentally opened a story that isn’t about citizen Giuliani bad-mouthing President Obama. What are the odds of that?
Oh, well. A refreshing diversion.
What’s with all these articles on whether Bill O’Reilly is telling the truth? That’s a dog-bites-man story if I ever saw one.
And at that, it was probably ghost-written.
I love his final remarks that O’Reilly is not a journalist. Of course he isn’t; his ego demands that he be called one, but he’s too lazy to do the work. For insight into his character and background listen to Terri Gross’s Fresh Air interview with him. A coward with serious daddy issues.
My mother grew up in Levittown not far from where Bill O’Reilly and Billy Joel did…and according to her, both men are making a ton of stuff up about how things were growing up.
His Killing series (Patton, Lincoln, etc) are so popular he ought to crank out The Killing of Bill O’Reilly next. And he was there!
You mean the books where he gets 90% of the facts wrong so that he can rewrite these guys into icons for himself and his beliefs?
The only “war zone” that O’Reilly covered was on the air during the so-called war on Christmas!
There’s actually a kind of Greek-myth quality to this. Jon Stewart announces his retirement, O’Really is no doubt relieved that soon he will no longer have his guts ripped open and his nonsense exposed on a regular basis, and suddenly oh no! The whole world has transmogrified nightmarishly into a giant Jon Stewart, exposing his lies and nonsense on a global scale! No escape from the Fates’ decree, loudmouth nonsense-peddling bully! To Tartarus with you! Mwa ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
Why do news reporters keep trying to invoke their experience(s) reporting on wars in the first place? Being a reporter is not the same as being a soldier. Even if you were “on the ground,” during some period of war, stop trying to invoke that as proof of your amazing courage and/or that you’re a better reporter than someone else.
Got news … report THAT.
Got an opposing view … then support it with FACTS.
But stop trying to make the story about YOU and what YOU did.
It’s called supporting the troops.
Ah…yes. Straight from the Crypt.
Touche!
This is nothing like the Brian Williams situation.
Being caught in a lie makes Bill O’Reilly MORE suited to his job rather than less.
He was in combat. with his liver…they spent countless hours in that hotel bar…try that for a couple of weeks. It’s no vacation.
