Apparently in the GOP, it’s a feature, not a bug…

All that is missing is Harvey Weinstein as a character witness…

Good. I’m beginning to think that, given new allegations about Grassley’s aide, underlying collusion in the “other guy did it” Whelan story, and what is still to come out, Dr. Ford’s physical appearance (regardless of what is said) may be enough to tank Kavanaugh’s nomination. My guess is that the GOP and BK are sweating plenty right now.

Dr. Blasey Ford is a brave woman who is willing to take the hit for the good of the country. I hope for the best for her.

As long as the GOP senators must do the questioning. The optics of old white men showing their misogyny to all the world is absolutely necessary.

Although not inclined to accept the idea of American Exceptionalism, I always think that the United States has been remarkably fortunate in finding the right man or woman at just the right time to avert disaster. At the moment, that may include Mueller and Dr. Blasey Ford. If thoughts and prayers are in any way useful, she has all I can muster of both.

I wonder how quickly their staffers can dig up the goalposts and get moving?

Even if they don’t question her and have a female aide do it, they will still look like craven cowards, especially when the Dem senators do their own questioning. Kamala Harris and Cory Booker are good at this.

ETA: Apologies for omitting Sen. Klobuchar, and Sen. Hirono for that matter. The Dem bench on Judiciary is deep.

Please, O Lord, get Anita Hill a front row seat in the peanut gallery. And may she walk up and shake Dr. Ford’s hand at the intermission.

I seriously wonder if they are capable of NOT doing it. I mean, Grassley’s already concerned about being second trombone. If they let a -gasp- woman do the questioning, he’ll probably go all “third Alphorn” on us.

Yes, the Senate must do the questioning. They don’t want the FBI to investigate but think an “outside counsel” should question Ford? The former is because questioning is the role of the Senate, and the latter because questioning is not the role of the Senate?

The staffers that are still there.

This needs to be done because they are the ones who placed their members on the committee. If they think it’s going to look bad because of who sits in those chairs, that’s their own fault. They should have tried to seat people who might actually know how to do the job fairly on that important committee if they didn’t want to look like @$$E$.

I hope that Professor Ford also requests Professor Anita Hill to represent her among her counsel at the hearing.

They were so sorry to see abuser Rob Porter leave the WH, they hired Ailes/O’Reilley enabler Bill Shine.

Why all the deadlines, what is so important that Ford be driven to testify by a certain date? What’s really at stake here Grassley? Is Kavanaugh in danger of melting?

If they get a woman to do it for them, they get to blame her when everything goes south. It’s a win-win for those old white guys.

Nice to hear it from somebody who means it.
