Discussion: For The First Time, Trump Allies Starting To Seriously Worry About Investigations

Near the end of WWI, the Germans described their relationship with the Austro Hungarian Empire as being shackled to a corpse. I think the Republicans are in the same situation.

“What they’re implying there, obviously, is something I assume at some point the president will have an opportunity to respond to.”

Right, because, obviously, he hasn’t had that “opportunity” so far.

A fetid, bloated, stinking, orange corpse.

I guess if Republicans say" no collusion" enough it will become true. It is the Tinker Bell theory applied to politics.

It is very frustrating to read articles like this and see how blatantly obvious the facts surrounding the illegitimacy of T rumpp’s election actually are, yet they are a completely new thought to Republicans who have never contemplated the mere possibility that their actions will undoubtedly have consequences. :no_mouth:

The GOP has no ability to govern, only to obstruct progress and humane policy. Trump is the inevitable result of the twisted, cruel, selfish, greedy GOP. The blunt-force policies aren’t working and the sewer is backing up on the vermin.

Slow learners. If ever a party deserved a violent, bloody, knock-down-drag-out primary, it’s this one.

Good, but remember it’s a corpse of their own making.

For the first time. Unbelievable. Then the article goes on to talk about how deluded most of them are.

“For the first time…”???

Er, no.

Trump’s allies have actively tried to delegitimize the investigations all along. This has always been a serious worry.

they contend the special counsel has come up empty-handed in his efforts to prove Russian collusion

This is so true - if you squeeze both eyes shut, stick your fingers in your ears, and sing out, “La la la!”

Ever notice how Thune and Barraso are always in the picture behind McConnell? I’m surprised he can make a statement all by himself. I guess he got preapproval from Mitch.

Actually the Republicans’ obliviousness fills me with hope. It shows that they really don’t have any plan for what happens as more and more of the truth about Individual-1 emerges. I prefer villains who are incompetent, at least in real life (in movies it takes all the fun out of it).

Yep Trump has the GOP base all in the bag.

I hope they got the Collusion Damage Waiver.

We often joke about Trump’s saying “so much winning.” But the GOP is all about winning. Winning is everything, and as they say in the SEC (Trumperland football) “if you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying.”

Of course there was no collusion.

There was, however, conspiracy; multiple conspiracies. And those ARE felonies.
Hey rethugs, can you spell TREASON, or is that too many letters for you?

But a shift began to unfold over the weekend after prosecutors in New York for the first time linked Trump to a federal crime of illegal hush payments.

Interesting that a variation of this line appeared in two AP articles.

ETA:
I just got caught up reading the articles from this morning. The line shows up three times. Blood in the water?

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan for the first time connected the president to a federal crime…

It’s the first time they have directly tied Trump to a federal crime.
