And even on the day that she won the nomination so much of the chattering class STILL cannot be positive about her. I (like many) have turned away from cable and to PBS and C-Span. Even on PBS it seemed almost painful for the commentators to say anything positive without reminding the audience about her so called “flaws.”. I sat and listened to David Brooks say he was not impressed with her as a SOS and some babble about how she was going to handle Benghazi. Some woman from the Cook (?) Report could barely find a kind word. However they all had high praise for Bill’s speech.
And while Bernie Sanders did “come through” the speech on Monday should have been given two months ago but he remained selfish to the end and has done a lot of harm to her from some supporters. i am glad some of those people walked out. And enough that Sanders pulled her to the left - she was always there.
As I have said many many times here many - I would say most - of Bernie’s supporters have no idea what It was like before Bill Clinton won in 1992. If you were alive and old enough to remember the '80s when Reagan was around and still find fault with his administration you were living in a bubble. And what no one talks about is how the seeds were sown for the very issues that Bernie Sanders screamed about during this primary during the Reagan and later Bush presidency.
Yes this is the most important election of my lifetime and I have been voting since 1972. And if Bernie and his followers think Citizens United is an important cause then think again about casting that vote for whoever Jill Stein is as a protest.
If you do not know this is the most important election in American history … well it is because if Donald Trump wins America will look more like Turkey than the UK. I don’t want to test the theory.

I think you have really found the key: Dallas changed everything. If this is going to be an election that - in its gut - is about white voters circling the wagons, then it is probably over now. But while Dallas changed everything, Dallas isn’t the only thing. I say this as someone who has both voted for Hillary and contributed to her campaign-- there is more Hillary Hatred than there is Fear-of-Trump. Combining Dallas and “Hillary Hatred” will put Trump in the White House and strengthen Republican control of the Congress.
Now, the Reuters poll (including polling yesterday) has flipped (after steady gains for Trump since the Republican convention) to Trump being ahead by 2%, which is something more than a 10% swing. The poll also said that 24% said they weren’t going to vote for either. I don’t think that is a credible number at the end of the day, but it shows deep unease with Hillary right after what we all thought was a disasterous Republican convention. Other polls are moving in the same direction. Can it possibly be that millions of Obama voters are going to vote for Trump.

Considering we’re likely seeing Trump (convention bump) at his best with Clinton (pre-convention and after a lot of negative press) at her worst, but with Clinton still leading in most if not all forecasts and with a huge electoral college advantage, I don’t think you should worry pokey. Hey, I’m also a white American male in my 60s - a WASP most of whose people where here in the 1600s. Trump is a fascist threat. We’ll defeat him, because this is existential. Also, I’m a Bernie supporter. Having you refer to us as “dumb F-ck” is no way to help bring us all into the tent. For all the myth of “Bernie bros,” the Clintonistas have on the whole been ruder online. Please stop it. It doesn’t help. Your contempt does not convince us. Fortunately wiser heads a the convention have extended respect in a way you here (and there are quite a few here who view their duty to Hillary as being one of insulting those of us further to the left) tend not to.
Also, minor statistical fact. Bernie did as well as Hillary among Hispanics. Her “minority” advantage was purely a Black thing. Not to slight that. Bernie also won the youth vote precisely by identifying himself as a socialist. The trick for Clinton now is to learn to portray her support for the best of socialism and capitalism both. Because Americans want a blended economy.
Bernie held on to get his issues into the Democratic Platform. That’s important. It’s what will get his many followers to vote Democratic. He was not selfish to do that. He was in service of the solutions which he and his supporters passionately believe in. If he’d quit early, we’d all be Greens now. As it is, we’re Democrats. That’s his genius. That’s his generosity. If Clinton wins – and she must – it’s because of what and who Sanders has brought to the party.

She had 12-13 million people voting for her during the primaries. And they did not vote for her saying, “well, I know how disliked she is,” and nothing was rigged.

Instead of focusing on the personalities in this election i seriously think people need to back up and remind themselves of the outcomes of the GOP and democratic presidencies over the last 10 to 15 years to determine who could govern with t that persons best interests in mind…

I know three languages, but I have absolutely no words for people who cannot see the menace Trump presents. But there are worse people:

But back to the dictators…Those of us who know about dictators will have to experience the pain of watching the ignorant and arrogant happily abstain from voting for Hillary and experience the actual horror of the Trump Presidency.
Since this will now be a Racist Republic, most of the abstainers will be spared from Trump in a direct sense, but–assuming they don’t have another planet picked out–they’re screwed anyway.
This is my impression too. I think a lot of people (especially in the squishy ignorant middle, the actual undecideds, God help us) hate Hillary more than they fear Trump, because they’ve been conditioned to hate Hillary for 25 years and I don’t think a lot of them grasp the truly existential threat that Trump represents.
I think there’s a lot of otherwise reasonable (at least not hateful) people out there that are convincing themselves that Trump is the lesser of two evils, which is terrifying.
I’ve greatly appreciated the message of the DNC so far stressing inclusion and love over hate. But unfortunately, a ton of Americans are not in sync with that. I don’t like it, but it’s time to go ugly with Trump. The Clintons need to channel some Johnson and unleash the hounds. Negative campaigning sucks, but if it wasn’t effective we wouldn’t see so much of it. Time to stop playing nice and take this two-bit racist con man down.
