Did the order also demand that all new patients be referred to Columbia/HCA for their long-term care?
Across the street from the stifling nursing home sat a fully air-conditioned hospital, Memorial Regional.
This is the most stunning part of the story IMO.
I wonder how many staff members were present, during the storm and after?
Republicans react…obvious ly way too late for those who died.
This is what happens when Republicans cut taxes for the rich and cut regulations and regulatory enforcement agencies…in this case people died. The problem is Republicans cut budgets and they break government and then the uninformed public thinks government is broken. Government gets broken because Republicans brake it…they have no interest in governing or making government work. All they care about are the hidden subsidies for the corporations and billionaire class, spending on the military, and controlling the rights of people (gun rights is the only thing they defend…because the gun mfg. and the NRA pay for their campaigns and vacations)
Precisely. And the fake concern coming from Governor “All Regulations Are Bad” is nauseating.
Evac costs money. Can’t have that.
And likely the lower-level staff and managers on the scene will be punished, while the owners skate.
Owner is a fraudster MD and is still President and CEO of Larkin Community Hospital.
Just to comments
- follow the money. who owns this facility and what it their profit margin
- a physician, with whom I work, says Florida nursing homes are the least regulated in the nation. Ref. TX and toxic waste regs. Both very strong republiCON states.
Just saying.
Came here to post that same link. He’s a mini Rick Scott.
Oh. Professional courtesy?
