Florida Republicans on Thursday flatly rejected President Trump’s claims that “Democrats” overestimated the number of Puerto Ricans killed by Hurricane Maria for partisan gain.

What would happen if Trump told one of his lies and everybody called him out on it?

Just wondering.

I have no doubt that FL Rethugs have no problem with Rump unless & until it gets in the way of their getting re/elected. All FL pols know that they’re vying for the Hispanic vote, now especially with the newly minted Puerto Rican population. Agreeing with Rump’s conspiracy theories does them no good.

The question should be why would Scott want to give that uncontrollable liar more power, by his very presence in Washington.

I don’t think Trump realizes it, but his lies are falling flat. Especially after last weeks revelations by Woodward and the anonymous op-ed. He’s increasingly seen as a buffoon, a moron, and someone best ignored by the general public and he doesn’t see it.

This is an especially grotesque lie that demeans thousands of people who died in a disaster that could have been ameliorated with a caring, responsive, functioning federal government.
