Discussion: Florida GOP Rep. Comes Out In Support Of Gay Marriage

Discussion for article #225362

Only the 8th R in Congress to support gay marriage? As for all these other R’s who refuse to say one way or the other, talk about leading from behind! What are they so afraid of?

Blasphemy! I smell a Teabagging primary challenger in his future

Notice he waited until he was safe for this year’s primary,

To me, that means that the sanctity of one’s marriage should be defined by their faith and by their church, not by their state.

Would it be out of line to point out to this idiot that it is exactly the state that defines marriage, and not the churches or faith? On the other hand, his support is in the right place even if his brain is misplaced.

At least, one who wants us all to think that. I wouldn’t bet my vote on someone who simply acknowledges what direction this is going and that voters support marriage equality. Plenty of other places for religionists to wedge their beliefs into law - and no telling, if powers shift, which way this guy would actually vote…

No, A teabagger would never win this district. Democrats lost here due
to Steve Israel and the DLCC interfering in our local election and transporting
Alex Sink here to chase after moderates in senior centers and hang out with
business groups instead of with the necessary working class and younger voters.
Sink was such a disaster with getting out the base on election day. She avoided
our President, the ACA, spent unending time defending her record as a CEO of
Bank of America and actually talked about looking at things in the Paul Ryan plan.

Sink was a clueless disaster as a candidate and by election day, I decided that I
didn’t personally like her and even her transported “Mayberry Twang” was annoying
the hell out of me. (this after I had campaigned for her as Governor against Scott)
