āDennis told the station that using real people is vital to facial recognition drills.ā
It makes sense, and Iām okay with that. Just use pictures of your fellow cops instead.
One more instance of police protecting their own. And yet police officers wonder why so many in the general public either out and out dislikes the police or hate the police.
I call Bullshite. How does āfacial recognitionā require actual humans? Unless you are trying to recognize specific persons. Get a competent artist to render them some, fer chrissakes.
āDennis told the station that using real people is vital to facial recognition drills.ā Is that a face? I canāt tell. It might be a pumpkin. Or a fire hydrant. Or a laundry hamper. Oh, if only Iād had more training!
Also, too: Does this mean that āaim for the faceā is standard procedure?
My first thoughtā¦
āPolice Chief J. Scott Dennis told WTVJ that the practice of using images of actual people is standard.ā
Because nothing says āprotect and defendā like deliberately desensitizing law enforcement to shooting fellow human beings.
police also have white and Hispanic faces in its inventory.
Anyone know the current āDumbest State in the Nationā rankings?
āDennis told the station that using real people is vital to facial recognition drills.ā
No itās not. The brain is hardwired for facial recognition (unless you have the disorder that messes up that wiring). Moreover, shooting at photos of peoples faces would have absolutely no training effect with respect to facial recognition, particularly at the distance these guys are likely shooting, which no doubt obscures any facial details on the photo.
How big a settlement do you get for a police are practicing killing me law suit?
** Thatās 'jess how we is in Floridaā¦dee-dee-dum-dee-dee-dum-dum **
Sounds like a total BS story by Chief Dennis. Why? Iām no expert, but I do believe that when using human targets, you have the entire body and you aim at the torso, so any face shots would be bad shots. In this case it appears the ONLY thing they used was the face shot as a target. That is NOT how you do it, you never aim for face, limbs, etc. You aim for the torso, so to not have that as part of your target makes no sense. The only exception is a sniper in a hostage situation, that is āhead shotā time. But these were ordinary cops practicing, so there should be entire bodies as targets. So this Chief Dennis appears to be full of it.
Exactly, you never aim for face or limbs, you aim for torso. So this is a BS story by the Chief.
And this is surprising why?
The Chief is a liar, most likely, and the practice is frankly evil.
The suggestion to use pictures of other cops is valid. It would either serve the stated purpose without creating a bad impression, or, more likely, educate the officers as to why the practice is unacceptable.
Also, sorry Chief Asshole, but leaving mugshots of former suspects behind to be found also violates their privacy. Double bad practice.
Two strikes, yer out!
YOU are the one who appears to be full of it.
These arenāt just BODIESā¦they are BLACK BODIES the Florida police are aiming atā¦
black bodies and black FACES.
So in essence they are being conditioned to respond to shooting black males.
The floor of the gun range would slippery with your spooge from thisā¦
or as you sayā¦full of it.
Boy, you sure missed the point of his post. He was criticizing the Florida cops, essentially calling the Chief a liar.
Which he probably is.
