Discussion: Flores Slams Biden's Jokes About Touching: 'So Incredibly Disrespectful'

Point taken, but popping up every once in a while to state the same point really impairs the power of her words, from my observation of the media.

Except that she’s a Bernie fan, so this is not without an agenda.

Bernie’s goon just won’t go away

And among her agenda are the following illustrative points:

referring to her account that during a 2014 political event Biden touched her shoulders from behind, smelled her hair and kissed her head without permission.

ā€œThat is unprofessional, inappropriate behavior, no matter who does it,ā€ Flores added, saying that Biden and others have made light of his long history of openly affectionate behavior toward others, particularly women.

ā€œWe’re talking about the fact that, as women, we have had to endure this kind of inappropriate behavior on behalf of powerful men certainly for as long as I’ve been alive — you know, forever,ā€ Flores said.

Bernie traveled back in time and gave mind-control drugs to send Creepy Joe into a hair-sniffing frenzy.
Which in turn was sponsored by Putin, who was promoted by Satan.

DIABOLICAL.

What is ā€˜disrespectful’ is to INSIST DAMMIT that you ā€˜hated’ it every time you want your face in the limelight. You used Biden to campaign for you and now you’re using him because you have become ā€˜empowered’ to ā€˜dislike’ it. Please.

ā€œBiden was on stage at an electrical workers conference joking that he had ā€œpermissionā€ to hug the union leader who introduced him.ā€

And this is where he really messed up - making light of his groping and inappropriate behavior with lame jokes.

Funny how much some folks incessantly whine about Bernie being an ā€œold, white maleā€, but when Joe Biden is being discussed, those supposedly disqualifying traits suddenly don’t matter at all.

The hypocrisy is pretty amazing. Just imagine if it was Bernie up on stage with his hands wandering all over women and kids - the outrage would be off the scales.

Funny how people’s supposed respect for women takes an ugly turn when someone they favor is revealed to be a creep, isn’t it?

What about we have a national dialogue on this issue, and we cease exempting from the discussion the GOP’s lifetime groper award winner George Herbert Walker Bush, now that he is dead and buried and the Meacham hagiography has been plugged ad nauseam on every Meacham TV appearance since its publication?

I think if we have a legitimate discussion of this issue, President Trump and his Party are not going to benefit at all. And Roger Ailes and Bill can’t tell Loofah from Falafel O’Reilly have to be included as well.

I’m still mildly surprised that anyone reads Meacham.

Ah yes. He’s about to launch so it’s time for the news to be about her again.

I wouldnt read him if you paid me. Or Beschloss either.
But it seemed his book ended up pushing out of the news the credible allegations of GHWB groping women posing for pitcures with him well into his wheel chair bound dotage. The family would always react like it was some recent senile thing, but I believe he did it his entire life. It was one of those really funny Andover things, you know, grab someone’s hiney while you are posing for a prom picture or a group picture tailgating at the Andover-Exeter Game, when they aren’t gonna be expecting it, or probably do anything about it.

I recently was discussing Biden’s actions with two male friends. One thought people (women?) were overreacting, and talked about a time when a female colleague of his had been awarded a coveted position. He’s a big hugger. He knew she didn’t like to be touched, so he consciously gave her only a gentle hug. My response was why did you hug her at all? He said he wanted to express his excitement on her behalf and he wanted points for being careful. I told him he got deductions for going ahead even when he specifically knew she probably would not like his touching her. I think by the time we were done, especially after the other man agreed with me, he was beginning to see that his response may not have been as noble as he thought. These are the kinds of crossed perceptions that screw things up. One of the biggest things that the Me Too movement may have revealed, in addition to how many men think power confers sexual license, is that women feel and are vulnerable a lot of the time.

I guess I’m confused at how Biden’s supporters are so quick to dismiss Ms. Flores and attack her for speaking out about what seems to be a prototypical Joe Biden incident. Biden’s campaign has shown so far that they are not prepared to deal with what will be an onslaught of claims related to Joe’s physical touching. Mocking it on stage was a poor choice. Biden’s supporters are being willfully ignorant of this stuff.

Joe may get the nomination, and be elected president. He would do a good job as President. For him to get there he needs to recognize that the world is different than when he started in politics. His words and actions need to reflect that, not mock it.

And that their no means no.

All good things to teach.

I really don’t think it’s quite that simple.
