Discussion: Flake Previews Questions For Kavanaugh On Trump's DOJ Bashing

wow, just wow. While everyone is falsely pinning their hopes on Collins, she is a partisan hack. But if Flake voted no (and hell lets dream perhaps Corker) that might get Murkowski off the fense. That would likely sink the nomination.

executive power is far more likely to give wavering D’s something to stand on than is abortion.

Investigating “very popular” men? Witchhunt! Worse than that a Rigged Witchhunt!

It is probably just for show.

Flake could end this thing now, but he is a spineless republican

I KNOW it is. The largest part of Flake’s statement (before he referred to this particular issue) was spent glamorizing Kavanugh as a remarkable man, jurist, and basketball coach. It was nauseatingly fawning, so Flake inserted a bit of his “but I have integrity” speech at the end.

I am not sure which is worse being called spineless or Republican

Flake will ask his questions, Kavanaugh will avoid answering the questions with something like “I can’t make statements about cases that may come before me”, and Flake will say “great job!”. Next year, when Kavanaugh rules that Trump can’t be investigated, impeached, and is our dictator for life, every Republican like Flake will say how awful it is, hoping that no one remembers their contribution to the awfulness.

When one of the Republicans in the Senate actually stands up to Trump and sticks to it, when one actually respects our history and the rule of law, it will be a minor miracle.

“Many of the questions that you will get on the other side of the aisle and from me will be…”

“…a mere prelude to my rubber stamping your nomination.”

(“Although, let the record show that I was ‘troubled’ by your nomination before I naturally approved it.”)

Flake will no doubt live up to his name. Too much money for him is at stake.

And the crowd spontaneously erupted in a rousing standing ovation. Never before had they ever seen such a masterful comedy routine.

Republican.

It’s definitely worse to be called Republican than spineless.

It does seem Flake learned quite a lot from his late mentor from Arizona. We can give that to him.
