That’s what I’m hoping, but Trump’s nominee might very well be one who impliedly states he will support Trump from the bench. Last Nov and since then we’ve learned of things that we never thought would happen but did happen.

I love your enthusiasm for this! I love your suggestions even more!!! My only caveat is that i want all of this to happen AFTER November. No way in hell McTurtle should be able to steal one SCOTUS seat, and then deny the same justifications be used to steal another one.

You obviously are unfamiliar with the process for amending the Constitution.
It would be impossible to get 38 states to ratify such a nakedly partisan and punitive amendment.
Makes it an even worse idea.

I have much more respect for the loons on the right who vote their convictions, than a person like Flake who has none.
So in the very short term, are there any ideas about how the confirmation vote can be stopped until next year? Can the Dems somehow stop all work in the Senate to facilitate that?

Certainly agree with the consensus here that Flake is wishy-washy when it comes to standing up against Trump. BUT. I’m pretty sure the ‘conscience of a conservative’ like Flake is completely in alignment with a SCOTUS that thinks America has been misinterpreting the Constitution since the Wilson Administration. The guy is an heir to Goldwater. He was never going to jeopardize this far-right wet dream just to stick it to Trump.

It is both our responsibility and duty to work hard to GOTV this November and in every election cycle from the local school board to the presidential election.
Political activism is not a biennial or quadrennial act.
It has to be daily, if not hourly.
The state and federal judiciary is vitally important to the success of liberalism—so we need to focus on it as sharply as the GOP has done for the last 50 years. We have a lot of catching up to do.
and most important of all this year—ANY Democrat is far superior to any Republican.

We agree completely, but I don’t delude myself that will not happen, you are naive to think McConnell isn’t a hypocrite who will change his own rule if it suits him. Yes, the Dems need to try, but by Tuesday of next week we will realize they just don’t have the power to beat these cheaters who DO have majority power, no matter how profane it is.
We need to use the tools we are given, not the ones we wish we had, and this is an excellent opportunity to expose Trump very publicly…
