Would be interesting if the FBI got a chance to ask people what, Kavanaugh really meant by FFFFF, devils triangle and etc.
It all depends on whether the gang of four (F, C, M, Manchin) will vote no if mitch makes them vote. If they are bluffingā¦
It does take courage for Flake to do this. Give the Devil his due, so to speak.
Flakeās not serious. Itās a con, yāall. A year of Prime membership says the vote goes through late tonight.
That depends if there is a FBI investigation or not. If there isnāt it was just grandstanding for nothing, as he did end up voting it out.
I think youāre wrong - but maybe Iām just kidding myself. I think this is big news: Flake is saying he will vote no without the FBI investigation. And if he has Collins and Murkowski on side, McConnell will have to agree to the delay. It aināt over yet.
A stunt, it makes no sense.
My bet is thereās some sort of perfunctory āwe looked at this and didnāt see a likely federal crime so weāre stoppingā whitewash that gives cover to confirm without actually analyzing any of it. The FBI isnāt going to puzzle over all the logical contradictions and innuendos and whatnotā¦ a great deal of the circumstantial evidence as it is isnāt explicitly legal or criminal in nature.
Edit: Although it depends on what the brief is. The FBI investigating whether Kavanaugh has been lying through his teeth about everything from what toothpaste he uses right up to did he attempt to rape someoneā¦ that could go somewhere. It follows that if thereās any truth to the allegations then he also perjured himself, so IMO it should all be a kit and caboodleā¦ but thatās starting to look like the sort of thing a special prosecutor and grand jury look at, not the FBI.
ā¦and in walks Robert Mueller. In my dreams.
It could be a stunt, but I think it makes a lot of sense.
Iām with you on this. I think this changes the calculation for Collins and Murkowski.
I think I can say with absolute confidence that next week has been exhausting.
The āmoderateā Senator Flake has caved. His ādemandā is to delay the floor vote for an FBI probe.
- Letās see if the Trump administration agrees to the Senatorās request to have the FBI do the probe.
- Letās see what the āgoodā Republican senators do with what they are given, which presumably will be about the same as what they did with Blasey Fordās credible testimony.
- A week might give them some time to see a poll or two, and that might have an effect, a bit of a kink in the McConnell rapid march plan.
- Of course, delay also draws the vote closer to election day and that might be interesting too.
Heād better grow the balls to vote āNoā on the floor next week, and bring Collins and Murkowski with him in calling for a delay and FBI investigation.
Thatās the only way McConnell doesnāt plow ahead.
Waiting to hear if the two lady Senators join in this afternoon.
McConnell can call for a vote in any case. I think this was better than casting a no vote in committee, under the circumstances.
OK Jeff, hereās the deal. McConnell is going to fuck you over on the FBI request and ram through a vote.
So just vote no.
Simple.
Alternatively, Flake thinks about his 2020 presidential run. He hopes to keep bigots and misogynists in his base by voting yes, he hopes to keep well-meaning gullibles in his base by asking for a delay.
Iāll buy that. Still makes it a con.
Graham is a horrible horrible human being.
Maybe. But itās leverage all the same. What else could come out over the course of a week?
