Nothing says religions freedom like cancelling ā€œReligious Freedom Dayā€ because of a religion that you donā€™t like.

This country is full of morons. And Florida has more than their fair share.

The Satanic Templeā€¦planned to hand out the coloring [book] in order to make a point about the school districtā€™s policy on religious material.

And it looks like they have made their point quite successfully. The school board never meant ā€œreligious freedomā€ to apply to any religion but Christianity.

I think the Satanic Temple has done some really good work over the last couple years. It makes me wonder if they actually hold their purported beliefs, or if they are just doing a much better job than that claimed by the pastafarians.

In my experience there are two types of Satanists (you do run across them every now and again): there is the kind who legitimately believe that the Bible is a hit job against he ā€˜morningstarā€™ and God is the villain in the piece and then the ones who are between the ages of 15 and 25 and will eventually grow up because they have no idea what Satanism actually is (they are the ones practicing magic and playing with blood in their momā€™s basement).

Just from my sense of the news articles I have seen about the Satanic Temple recently, I donā€™t think they are either. I think they have deliberately latched onto something they know will really piss off the religious right, and are trolling them hardcore.

New policy suggestion: Donā€™t proselytize at public schools. It violates the 1st Amendment of the Constitution that you conservatives hold so dear. The first. Not the 2nd, 3rd, or 27th. The first.

Hooray for Religious Freedom Day! Religious Freedom for all! What a wonderful way toā€¦Iā€™m sorryā€¦what?

Oh. Religious FREEDOMā€¦Huh.

[CHECKS DICTIONARY AGAIN]

For ALL??? What kind of crazy idea is THAT?!?!? Religious Freedom Day is CANCELLED everyone!

Iā€™ll go along with that. I donā€™t think they love Satan so much as they respect the Constitution. And when the Bible-thumpers try some stealthy illegal proselytizing the so-called Satanists are there, grinning, to make sure the event reflects a generous breadth of opinion. I think the FSM followersā€”and I consider myself oneā€”are more like Unitarians, not inclined to make much trouble. But the Satanists make trouble gleefully. Anyway, God love 'em, you might say, theyā€™re fighting the good fight.

The NSGOTP strikes again. Since most of those uncerebrated buffoons believe the US was founded by Jeebus, this doesnā€™t surprise me.

Rapture ready?

The district is working on a new policy on religious materials

Here, let me help you:

ā€œReligious materials of any type shall not be offered to students on school property, except for copies of religious texts available in the library for study. Any religious text requested by students for study purposes shall be purchased or borrowed from other libraries as needed.ā€

iā€™m sure there would have been a similar effect if people were passing out Korans. Gotta hand it to the Satanists, they always know how to expose the real agenda behind these sorts of things.

Itā€™s spelled"Floriduh."

I think youā€™re right.

Satanism has the perfect mix to use a test case. Itā€™s real, but practically non-existent. No judge can pretend that there arenā€™t people who truly believe in Satanism (but that judge could assume that Pastafarians are just taking the piss - mostly because they are).

So to really make the point you need to use a real religion. But you also need to use one with practically no followers, otherwise you will be causing offense to large numbers of people and clouding the issue.

Satanism was the perfect choice.

My understanding is that Satanism, at its most basic, is the worship of the self, self-determination, and personal liberty; at least in its organized forms, of which there are plenty here in the States.

Far as I know no Satanic doctrine denies that God is God, but instead takes the stance that God must be checked by the free will God is purported to have bestowed upon His creations etc. Frankly itā€™s just Libertarianism, but more theistic. Mystery to me why conservatives donā€™t pick it up.

Honestly these guys are great. Cool friends I bet. I lived in an attic for a while that was Satanically consecrated, and good time were had there til my legs rotted off and my eyes saw beneath the skin of thingsā€¦to this very day.
