Yes, a poll tax. That should go over big in court.

Poll tax.

A felon that has served their time is barred from voting if he can’t come up with a few hundred dollars in fees. But a deadbeat dad that owes the state thousands in arrears child support payments can vote.

Seems legit.

I think we can count on SCOTUS just adoring it.

The Mega Poll Tax. Or should that be MAGA Poll Tax?

They’re probably pushing this for the sole purpose of getting it to SCOTUS, where the Demon 5 will use it to make poll taxes legal again. Yay!

Republicans seem determined to piss people off enough to vote them out of office. Nothing like waving the middle finger to 64.55 percent of the voters. And this is all to suppress the vote of what is likely would end up being not a huge amount of new voters.

Wow, they found a category of poll tax that is even more racist than the original

And anyone who thinks John Roberts worries about his “legacy” is a fool. The only thing they’ll understand is court packing, which I pray to god can happen in 2020.

A billion dollars have been pledged to rebuild Notre Dame. How much will be pledged to rebuild these people’s lives?

Don’t answer. I don’t feel like crying today.

“…to pay potentially thousands of dollars in fines, fees, court costs and restitution (even restitution converted to a civil lien) in order to be allowed to vote…”

And, yet, a guy who presides over the largest Medicare swindle in history can be a Senator – without having to pay back a penny of the $300 million in stock, $5.1 million in severance, and $950,000-per-year in consulting that he pocketed.

Only in Florida.

So if someone borrows the money to pay those fees, and then fails to pay back the loan, they’ll still be able to vote. Even if they’re sent to jail for not paying back the loan.

Brilliant.

WTF? This cannot be constitutional…what about all the corporations that ratfk the taxpayers and then walk away? Do we NOW require them to pay up or never do business in the state again?
