Discussion: Five Revelations Reveal The Extent Of The Rot In The NC GOP Bribery Scandal

North Carolina is a state that has been under the rotten thumb of an entrenched GOP and a couple of oligarchs for sometime now. It has a very blue and very prosperous Tech Triangle that should set the tone for the state. The state should be purple. That the old school GOP still controls is a testament to the iron grip the GOP establishment had on NC. Good to see it is cracking.

OT. Trump fired the head of the Secret Service today.

One official described the firings as “a near-systematic purge” at the Department of Homeland Security.

We can only hope that people in NC start to question the Republican party over all of this, and realize they have been cheating the system to remain in power unjustly. Maybe that will be enough to drive people to the polls in 2020…get them angry enough at injustice and they will vote it out.

“Rot” is a clear and appropriate descriptor of the NC GOP.

I get the sense that he is about to try something very BIG very soon. He has effectively isolated himself from every voice of reason. He is visibly agitated in everything he says. He is also uncontrolled and “rogue” in his approach to foreign policy. He said during his campaign that “he alone” could fix this country, and that’s exactly what he appears to be trying to do. Except he’s breaking everything he touches. I think that’s been his plan all along.

I don’t understand the summary of the article, that it’s been “a no good, very bad stretch for the NC GOP…” This statement implies that there’s an end to all of this, that these happenings are somehow an aberration of sorts, “a stretch” that extends to some sort of end. However, what’s being revealed might not be an aberration, but, rather, the status quo that’s existed for a long time. Not a stretch, but the way they actually operate and will continue to operate if they can.

I haven’t even heard the name Art Pope. He’s the one who started all of this.

Is someone somewhere keeping a reliable scorecard? Sure, Democrats are no angels, but the number of Republican evil doers, to borrow a phrase, grows daily. It might be helpful to keep a running total - and maybe even compare it to Obama’s terms and Clinton’s. A chart like that could be compelling.

I think he intends to go full rogue on the border. He’s going to block all entries (preferably by force) and begin using ‘extraordinary measures’ to clear out the existing backlog of asylum applicants. When the courts issue orders blocking him, he’ll flip them off and claim his power to ‘defend the integrity of the country’ transcends the courts and congress.

The GOP Senate will be ‘very concerned’, but stand in lock step with him. Then we will be in uncharted waters.

It’s been a no good, very bad stretch for the NC GOP, and the hits just keep coming.

Let’s be clear: “It’s been a SELF-INFLICTED no good, very bad stretch for the NC GOP, and THEIR hits just keep coming.”

And THAT sir, is the correct answer. This is the tip of a gigantic sea of corruption. Republicans don’t care how they get into positions of power and have no morals, no values, no decency, and no integrity - winning is everything.

And the “Christians” cheerlead the rotten every nasty step of the way.

I live here as does most of my family. The Republicans in my family DON’T GIVE A DAMN IF THEY ARE ROTTEN.

5) This is the latest in a string of outrageously negative headlines for the North Carolina GOP

This indictment could not have come at a worse time for the state party.

Glory hallelujah! 'Bout time!!

But, but, but, that would take away the “both sides do it” BS that the media loves so much.
