Discussion for article #230978
A sane person should use the upcoming Consumer Holiday to invest in some real history books as a legacy item that should be passed down through the generations. That should include the current: Lies My Teachers Told Me.
Here in TX - there is exactly one ECON course that can be completed on-line for HS credit: Free-Market Capitalism. sigh.
Start the brainwashing early - sigh.
Such is life here in the recently acquired provinces of the Kochtopus Empire. The Kochs bought the place fair and square so theyâre entitled to order Proconsul McCrory to follow their orders on the proper instruction of the children of their new subjects.
Apparently theyâve purchased the economics department at Creighton University now, and thereâs a brewing Jesuit revolt. Grab the popcorn.
¨(T)he course feeds the concept of "American exceptionalismâŚÂ¨
Perhaps they could start by discussing the Senate report on torture released yesterday.
When your paid belief system doesnât agree with the facts, just change the facts for the next generation.
Like the song says: âYou must be carefully taught.â
Brainwashing for Kindergarteners, Volume 1âŚ
âBy focusing on the founding documents like the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, the course feeds the concept of âAmerican exceptionalismâŚââ
Try focusing on these areas of American Exceptionalism:
- Most expensive place to have a baby.
- Obesity.
- Anxiety disorders.
- Small arms ownership.
- Most people behind bars.
- Energy use per person.
- Health expenditures.
- Cocaine use.
Perhaps one of the best antidotes to this barrage of disinformation is also Andrew J Bacevichâs
The Limits of Power: The End of American Exceptionalism.
A title like that will make Koch influenced heads explode.
SO!
Teaching history has become a battle of which opinions to be taught? History should be taught from a values perspective?
Does this mean that âBlazing Saddlesâ is real history?
Welcome to the brave new world. Now take your fucking soma and shut the fuck up.
The limited government is sort of true. In a fashion. Just not in the way they want it to be. The Founders were incredibly suspicious of a powerful central government. However, it never precluded the expansion of federal power as the world changed. Interstate commerce for instance now covers pretty much commerce.
So, a grain of truth, but in reality it does not say what they want it to.
The illustrious âFounding Fathersâ were 18th century men living 18th century lives and had thoughts and ideas that evolved out of that period of time. They could not have foreseen all the monumental changes and monumental challenges that a 21st century country has gone thru and is now challenged by. It is unrealistic to think that their way of thinking and the documents these ideas put forth are the only guiding principles for moving forward in this day and age, unless you are a uber-wealthy megalomaniac who wants to keep people subjugated as if they are still in the 18th century.
If I remember correctly, they purchased the Economics Dept at FSU a couple of years ago that included the final decision on which professors to hire and fire.
Sorry Mom ⌠you always taught me not to hate, but I hate these bastards with every fiber of my being.
Sadly, this doesnât surprise me. Iâve always thought that if enough people with the money & power could find a way to dismantle parts of our Constitution (especially the 13th and 19th amendments), they would try very hard to do so.
The Kochs and others like them would LOVE the ability to actually own people again, as it would mean that they wouldnât have to ever pay them for work. They want it to get to the point that your employer would own you, and would bring back something resembling the âcompany storesâ of the mid and late 1800âs (where you would be paid in company scrip and would be (over)charged for your necessities of life).
I hope I live long enough to see these men dead and buried.
As a compromise, every high school student should read, side-by-side, Paul Johnsonâs History of the American People and Howard Zinnâs A Peopleâs History of the United States.
Fred C. Koch the John Birch baby daddy, had no problem selling stuff to Stalin and feverishly worked to make sure his twin boys made the wealth class a spearhead to subvert Teddy Rooseveltâs and FDRâs hard won populism because Communism. That was nothing new.
The agrarian age folks who founded the republic, had to deal with misaligned thinkers.
James Madison, whoâs Federalist kool aid predates Ayn Rand espoused that the smallest minority has every right to usurp the consensus majority, no matter the tactic, no matter the societal damage.
This is the ethos, a false prophetâs wet dream which drives the Federalists.
Look no further than the Kochâs, Paul Rayn (Kempâs bitch), Raynd Paul, and especially the activist panel that is ensconced on the SCOTUS.
They allow and enable, ALEC, the Chamber of Commerce and a few billionaires, to hold sway over science, as well as logic.
Coming soon to a Koch funded Madrassa near you.
indoctrinating the young with their elitist revisionism! Wait -what? Thats someone else that does that? People and groups who are way less wealthy and powerful than the Kochs? OK yeah got it- these are down home regular guys lookin out for the common folk.
