Republicans cannot continue to ignore what’s going on around them. Their supporters and the gerrymandering will not be their saving grace for much longer. They are gleefully heading for the cliff at full speed.

The Nunes gambit seems to be crashing and burning pretty fast. Once people figured out that Nunes was handed WH talking points, the press started probing their WH contacts and those ‘rogues’ (hey, some of those twitter handles might actually be partially legit?!) leaked to the press that Trump was trying to keep Yates from testifying. Once that got out, the GOP seems not that keen on investing too much to die on a hill for Trump to obstruct justice. There will be more who demand Nunes to step down or recuse. Someone in Camp Ryan should find a face saving way out for Nunes, but the challenge is that Nunes might be quite popular in GOP circles b/c of his willingness to throw himself on a grenade for Trump. The one guy on the GOP side who might have the smarts to see the long game is McConnell. He can see that nothing of complexity will get done under Trump because of his lack of knowledge and diminished mental abilities. He doesn’t have 60 votes to pass Gorsuch and he knows from experience that Dems will pay no price for opposing every Supreme Court nominee. Making a move now to pave the way for Pence would be a better solution for the GOP.

Trump’s in quite the conundrum. He needs capable lackeys, but everyone capable knows to steer clear of the White House and everyone who’s still willing to be a lackey is an inept know-nothing like Nunes.

U.S. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes said on Tuesday he will not divulge - even to other members of his panel - who gave him intelligence reports that indicated President Donald Trump and his associates may have been ensnared in incidental intelligence collection.
Asked by a Fox News reporter whether he would inform the other committee members about who gave him the reports he viewed on the White House grounds last week, Nunes said: “We will never reveal those sources and methods.”
Man, this thing must be so fucking big and go so deep.
Seriously, this is a threshold moment for this nation’s survival. We need to keep names of who lines up on which side, gotta be able to tell the traitors from the patriots and act accordingly.

Nunes has not been nearly as visible today but he cleared the calendar for the committee. Paul Ryan is either not paying attention or does not know what to do. Trump got what he wanted -Sally Yates did not testify- he’s done with Nunes. Any bets on when he resigns as chair of the committee? Maybe Friday?
Edit again: Hmmm now he will not share with his own committee what he saw last week. Fishy very very fishy. Could it be he made it up? He’s gotta go.

Actually, I don’t think I have any real idea if he does much of anything in general, except I know that he works out. I don’t get who he is. All I know is I have trouble with the idea of counting on him for anything at all.
