Discussion: First Republican In Congress Uses the I-Word: Impeachment

Frankenputz may have won Michigan by 9,528 votes and infested the Oval Office. But now he’s gong to lose Michigan by (hopefully)14 votes in the House and 2 votes in the Senate. Ahhh me, it restores one’s faith that Nature does correct her mistakes given the fullness of time.

I don’t like the man at all, but Impeachment of Pence is a high bar I don’t think anyone can think of jumping at the moment.
Pence being Impeached (and found guilty) would also make Paul Ryan President.
To quote a line from one of my favorite movies: “Weigh carefully the possibilities of such a future.” (As in, you have no future.)

Nah…Putin even offered their version of tapes from last week’s meeting in defense of Trump. Putin is gambling that a destabilized U.S. is to Russia’s benefit.

At least any Ryan-Ayn Rand agenda would be dead in the water.

@ryokyo 's comment notwithstanding, an interesting thought experiment: suppose Pence goes down first, and Trump must choose a VP who has to be confirmed by Congress. Who could get through? What if it was a post-2018 Dem landslide?

Post-prandial musings.

I actually think impeachment is not the most serious threat he’s facing. If the indications of mob money laundering turn out to be true he’s got far worse things to worry about than public shaming…

Bookmakers now placing Trump at odds-on ( ~ 56%) for impeachment and removal…

I wonder if any of the markets are considering a 25th Amendment possibility.

You make my case. What better way to destroy Trump in Americans’ eyes than by reminding them Trump let Putin’s Russian spies in photographer’s and ambassadors’ clothes into the Oval Office who then surreptitiously taped what was said among the yukking buddies.

Perhaps I’m wrong, but I doubt the Russian version would be an accurate portrayal.

Not clear that they would have to Doctor it in any way for it to be utterly damning.

Of course, but it is the images of the yukking Trump, Lavrov, and Kislyak palling around and the reminder of Trump’s naïveté and stupidity and suggestion that Russians bugged the Oval Office right under Trump’s nose that Putin could count on for the ultimate in undermining dick moves.

I actually think impeachment is not the most serious threat he’s facing.

Yes, but he has to be impeached and removed before he can be indicted for any of those crimes. This is why he might panic and run if imminent impeachment became a reality. As long as he’s President, he’s free to go anywhere.

Great, now I have this image in my head of Jared and Ivanka trying to smuggle The Donald out past his Secret Service detail. My money’s on them botching it…

Enough, too, let us hope, to drive a stake through the heart of the zombie vampire that is the modern Republican Party. I hold only faint hope for that, but still…

That would make the greatest SNL sketch ever!

I share your wish, but I don’t have as much faith as you do in the average American’s attention span.

For crying out loud. A Republican is talking impeachment, and this is your reaction? This is the big problem with the left: STAY FOCUSED! There is exactly zero chance of fixing any other problem in the country until this one (Trump in the White House) is fixed.

The Great Escape”, with The Donald as Steve McQueen. In the final scene, he successfully jumps over " The Wall" and escapes to Mexico - Irony, for the win!!
