Discussion: First Lady Spox: Don’t Read Too Much Into Her ‘I Really Don’t Care’ Jacket

I’m done with her …these people could ruin a sweet dream. Unbelievably thoughtless and out of touch. #feckless

“It’s a jacket. There was no hidden message."

That’s for sure. It’s right out there in your face–nothing hidden about it at all.

I think this was a message to her husband. It’s a big “Fuck You” to him.

So did I–-50 or 60 years ago.

That is now an extinct species.

Everyone knows the first lady regularly chooses to wear cheap, $40 jackets

This wardrobe failure just may have surpassed Nero’s carrying a fiddle to Rome’s burning.

Yeah that’s where I am - I’m furious, devastated and totally bewildered by these people.

They started dying off in the Reagan era, yes. I don’t know any now.

No one in Trump’s orbit should eat chocolate pie ever again.

That is perfect!
You win the prize!!!

One of the reasons for this trip was for Melania to “thank law enforcement.” This raises a very interesting legal question, “What the hell are you thanking the people who lock kids up and separate them from their parents for?”

Under the code of military justice there is a clear rule that you must obey any and all lawful orders. Its corollary is that you are obliged to disobey any unlawful order. Similarly, public servants like the police are obliged to enforce the law when ordered to do so, and should refuse if the order is a request to do something unlawful. This is why the Trump people have been making such a big deal about the law.

However, in this case, it is a clear violation of international law to separate families and the US constitution considers it a fundamental right to keep families together, so there has to be a damn good reason for the separation. The controlling case still is Flores, which requires the federal government to do two things: to place children with a close relative or family friend “without unnecessary delay” and not keep them in custody if possible, and where necessary to keep immigrant children in custody in the “least restrictive conditions” possible. Umm, a cage is more restrictive than a room. Yet law enforcement went ahead and violated settled law that the administration happens not to like. WTF, Melania.

There’s no accounting for taste. Lord help us all. Her closet is probably bigger than my house. Did no one tell her duh, not a good idea. Geez it boggles.

Perhaps she’s just tone deaf.

Here’s a helpful test for her.

It could explain everything.

Thanks to Fox News. I’ve heard story after story about the damage done to people who watch. It’s tragic and sickening.

Why did she wear that jacket? She wore it so that the 'liberal" media would pounce on it. So that the administration can now claim that the media is more interested in attacking a jacket then praising her for her good intentions Just watch!!!

Let’s try this one: Ivana (the REAL First Lady, according to her) was there “visiting friends”, and set it up. Melania starts out the door with a wave and a flourish, and the first Mrs. Trump says solicitously, “Oh, my deer, it is raining in Texas right now – you will be cold! Pliz take my little rain jacket. You can return it later. Here, I vill help you put it on now so you don’t muss up your hair…”

The fact is, if I was someone who is used to other people helping me all the time, and certainly my trusted staff, I wouldn’t think someone just held a coat for me to put on that says, essentially, “Kick Me” on it. Of course my little ditty about Ivana doing it is a joke, but is someone going to get fired for this obvious sabotage? I personally think Melania would be justified in beating the shit out of whoever did that.

Even those corny telenovelas want a bit of genuineness, Melania is too fake.

I coudn’t care less what “they” say. When I told my husband what was on the back of the jacket, he was shocked. It made no sense; we couldn’t come up with a good reason to wear it, other than to remark that it was incredibly tone deaf.

These people are damaged beyond repair.
