Discussion: First GOP Primaries Could Spell Trouble For House Incumbents

Discussion for article #246243

I’m missing something here.

If right wing voters are upset because of economic issues, i.e., coddling of the “too big to fail banks” and overall protection of billionaire CEOs, loss of manufacturing jobs, etc., then they’re better off supporting the Dem candidate.

On the other hand, if they’re mad about same sex marriage, gun laws, immigration, or other social issues; it’s hard to fathom where the incumbent Republican could be any more recalcitrant in most cases.

I guess the only daylight between the Republican candidates may be that the establishment types, in their hearts, would prefer some sort of immigration reform to aid corporations whereas the tea party types are just dead set against it.

So, is all this bile really just about immigration? If so, they’re severely misguided on the effect undocumented immigrants have on our overall economy. So it appears to be just more of the same…fear and hate.

It’s basically lashing out. They absolutely hate Democrats and won’t even give them a listen because of everything in your second list. But they dislike their current Republican representatives for selling out to the billionaires while not actually accomplishing anything about abortion, gays, immigration, etc. So they keep reaching for someone who promises to be “more conservative”, which at this point boils down to being more willing to burn the country down in service of obstructionism.

This is what happens when “reasonable” people don’t vote in off-year elections.
