Discussion: Firm Convictions, Uneasiness At Churches Before Alabama Senate Race

The country, and to some extent the world looking for clues, turns it’s weary eyes to Alabama.

One more sorry side show on the road, long before the clown car appears to be out of gas. Hope the GOTV pulls out a victory for Jones, but preparing for the perpetual calamity clown routine of Moore in DC.

God is testing Alabama Christians. Have they really learned the lessons of the Bible, the lesson Jesus did in the desert?

When the devil offered Jesus riches beyond his wildest dreams, offered Jesus everything he ever wanted, if only Jesus bowed down to the devil… Jesus said no. The Kingdom of God is in each soul — in the souls of every Alabama voter.

What kind of a home will your soul be? A place for a man who preyed on young girls to the point that made them frightened? Who now, as an old man, uses God’s holy Word to prey on your religious beliefs?

Doug Jones is a decent person. That’s all. But that’s good.

Vote for goodness.

Roy Moore waved a small pistol around during one of his political events. I assume he was talking about the 2nd amendment but it occurred in a church. That right there, were I an Alabama voter, would tell me all I need to know about that man’s fitness for high…or any…office. And it is aside from all the other salacious stuff that has come out about his past behavior with under age girls.
When a man waves a gun around in a church it causes me to question his sanity.

Not much of an advertisement for organized religion, these people.

My friend, he could have walked out on that stage with a gun in one hand and a freshly sawed-off orphan’s head in the other and as long as he yelled about Jesus his peeps would be with him. What matters is you’re saved, you’re godly, you’re a person of faith, and that’s it for Bible Belt types. I don’t mean Christians. I mean cultists. Doesn’t matter what you’ve done, if you’re one of them they’re all about forgiveness. I’ve been there and I’ve seen it for myself.

Leaving the red-brick building after a service that ended with a hymn and an altar call, Kevin Mims said he didn’t believe the claims against Moore. But even if true, he said, they occurred long ago, and Moore is a conservative who stands “on the word of God.”

So Kevin it’s OK to vote for Moore who tried to sexually assault two teenagers, harassed even more but since it was long ago it just doesn’t matter if it’s true because God? Kevin which God, book of the bible, and denomination are you talking about?

So…after you kiss Jeebus’ toes and call yourself saved by the Grace of God and you still wave a gun around in church and fornicate with a 14 year old it is all good? So he could actually shoot someone in downtown Montgomery in front of the state capitol and it would be forgiven by the good Christian cult members (but not necessarily the state police)?

My major Prof when I was workimg on my PhD was a born again type. So I saw it up close but he was a decent guy, not a nut case who denied reality. The Alabammy boys seem …umm… different.

This is the problem with white evangelicals ; once they “forgive themselves the past doesn’t matter.

These two images sum up today’s Republican Party, from California to North Dakota to Maine to Texas and to Alabama.

They’re indistinguishable in mentality and worldview from these people:

Maybe that’s how Jeebus lost his sandals?
