Discussion: Finally, A Budget Deal Is Here

The legislation passed will have little or nothing to do with gas prices. Gas prices are going to fall in the near term, because OPEC decided to keep pumping, and Iran is going to be able to sell oil again. Allowing our oil companies to export more will only make the prices fall further.

With some guys, growing a beard makes them look, older, wiser, more mature.

He still looks like a teen-age douchebag.

The fact that you are right says a lot about how far America has fallen. The world no longer revolves around Washington. The oil wars are headquartered in Tehran and Riyadh.

It’s easy, really. All you have to do is add another trillion and a half in unfunded debt over the next ten years and campaign on flogging the Dems for being profligates.

I mean, how hard can that be?

If I were Obama, I would publicly announce that he may veto it. After enduring the taunts of the Repubs for 7 years over his “inability” to reduce the debt, the idea they would simply increase spending and extend tax breaks with no thought to plugging the hole they’re creating is astonishing. Veto the goddam thing, and quote a Repub (pick one, anyone) on the need to protect our children’s future.

Ryan already said that he was not confident in getting all the GOP to back it. So I doubt he got them on this either. I imagine he said something involving waiting to the GOP wins the White house and then they would do stuff. They still would not help him but they would not kick him out tomorrow.

The fact that it is “bipartisan” will make the GOP base set it’s hair on fire. They are already pissed at Ryan for doing this deal the same way Boehner did it.

I think it’s hilarious how the MSM photographers always try to capture Ryan as some thoughtful, learned sage who is thinking passionately about his constituents, the people of the United States, when in actuality he is just as much of a traitor to the ideals of this nation as the dreaded Freedom Caucus, who just want to burn everything down, no matter who gets hurt by their incompetency. None of his numbers add up, and none of his policies can ever work - in other words, a typical Teabagger.
The only description of Paul Ryan that truly fits is the same one used for Cosmo Kramer - “hipster doofus”.

My first cynical thought was, it makes the GOP finally look a bit sane – and like they’re governing again – during the debate. Too bad none of the buffoons on stage were supporting that visual.

You’re Welcome.

Every budget since forever is called a “crap sandwich”. That’s compromise for ya!

“…lifting the ban on exporting domestic crude oil…”
This isn’t going to make the “Drill, Baby, Drill” crowd very happy.
Is that what a lot of Republicans campaigned on: “Keeping our oil”
This is course will make the Oil Companies very happy cause they know they can get a better price on the open market. But then the Oil Companies always have their own best interests at heart.

Actually I think Krugman’s “Flim-Flam Man” is a better fit.

Has since the 70s. But our huge natural gas reserves are forcing price wars.

And since green energy technology is finally at the right price point, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t take this opportunity to move beyond the fossil fuel era.

Well you just keep right on believing that and for the moment that may be the case because there have only been two shipments of oil exports to foreign companies scheduled since the oil ban was lifted but as soon as these oil companies find foreign buyers that they can profit off of then you are going to see domestic supplies start to decrease which will lead to our domestic energy prices and all retail prices across the board rising. Right now these companies are in the process of trying to find buyers! When they do find these buyers hold on!!
