Discussion: FINAL STATE OF PLAY: Democrats Eye Huge Gains In Governors' Mansions

Maryland’s governor, Larry Hogan is very popular. He’s actually a decent man… for a republican. I’ve never known him to parrot the current party line.

He was decent… until he stuck his nose in the Univ. of Maryland coaching fiasco.

I didn’t follow that incident much. I understand heads did eventually roll. Never understood how a healthy athlete can die at practice and no fault found with the program.

Democratic voters in Colorado made a big mistake going for Jared Polis instead of Cary Kennedy in the primary. Remains to be seen, but Walker Stapleton is poised to paint the state red.

It happens, was playing basketball in HS, way back when, during a timeout near the final minutes a boy on the opposing team collapsed. Turned out he had an undiagnosed heart condition and the stress of a close game brought on a heart attack. As far as anyone knew he was a very active health young man. While attending different schools we were neighborhood friends, rock climbing, canoeing, biking, baseball, of course basketball, etc, more or less anything to get away from home over summer breaks.

This is YUUUUUUUGE, because CONservatives were one governor’s mansion away from calling and Article 5 convention, which would have turned the U.S. into a white male-dominated theocracy. If Democrats can overcome the massive illegal voter suppression that will plague tomorrow’s election, they should show no mercy in the redistricting process come 2020. And fuck “fairness”! The fate of humanity is at stake. We need to give them a taste of their own bitter medicine and put them into permanent minority status…

I am hoping for a blue blowout.

I have had a hard time squaring “close election” with all of the political activism I have seen over the last two years, beginning with the women’s march on 1/21/17.

I seriously think the pissed off women’s vote has been underestimated.

I hadn’t paid much attention to the election next door in Georgia but Abrams was on CBS this morning and I gave her a look. She’s a very impressive lady. When she talks you want to listen. And guess what? My hardcore wing nut neighbor ( all my neighbors are GOP’ers ) has a Gillum sign in his yard. The rest of the sad sacks on my street have all gone quiet.

Somethings going on.

That’s usually Dilated Cardiomyopathy, DCM, the great silent killer that kills young folks like that.

GOP’ers in the mid Atlantic and New England can’t be wing nuts. Folks there won’t go for that.

Yes, undiagnosed medical conditions do happen and can be tragic. But that wasn’t the case at the University of Maryland. It was heatstroke, plain and simple, and the suspicion is that if the player had been white, the coaches would have heard his complaints and gotten him treatment long before it became fatal. The University does not deserve a pass on this one.

I was in Ringgold/Dalton/Resaca,Georgia from 10/24-10/28. Saw a lot of Abrams signs even out in rural areas. Not sure exactly what that means, just noting my observations.

Let us not forget that down ticket races are hugely important. More than the A-list races in many states.

Huh? What about Maine?

The Governor’s Race here in CT will be close, it usually is.

Today the GOP Candidate Stefanowski requested challengers to voters at specific polls (guess which ones), using a law that has never been used in CT to anyone’s knowledge. Intimidation to say the least, The AG (who is a Dem) has to approve, I hope she doesn’t.

Maine keeps getting screwed by asshole third party vanity candidates splitting the vote.
